It was a wake up call that I needed to figure out how to study (also I think I got 79.6 in History and narrowly missed a C). My friends were getting 4.0's so i KNEW I could do it as well. (btw back in 5th grade I got like 36 on a take home open book history test lol) To this day I don't think I'm naturally brighter than the average person. I do however work 2-3x as hard as the average person usually. (though I have periodic burnouts...) I did academic work after athletics for something like 6 hours a day during HS. NONE of my friends in College worked like this - most of them just shot the breeze. Also I was blessed to have some Great teachers along the way. 5th and 6th grade Math teacher, 7th and 8th grade Grammar teacher, etcetc. Hmm... well, hope this answers the question somewhat. Good Environment + Competitive nature I guess is the short answer. | ||

Although it could conceivably motivate you to continue your studies, if you are the type to find it difficult to self-motivate yourself to study languages. I can definitely tell you that college is the least expensive place to learn a language. | ||
