I don't even have any good skills. Pedro: What do you mean? Napoleon Dynamite: You know, like nunchuku skills, bow hunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills. I want to learn a new skill. Since I've moved recently to a new area I don't have much to do in the way of socializing. I figured I'd use my mass amounts of time to do something other than play League of Legends and WoW (although I'm down to play with anyone from TL :3) and learn a skill or talent or even find a new hobby! Does anyone have any ideas? Preferably something that isn't too expensive as tuition/books already takes a big dent out of my wallet. My friends said I should learn harmonica or some magic tricks, both seem alright. Knitting, juggling, and cooking are also interests of mine. Knitting/cooking will actually produce something of value so I'll probably end up getting into either one some time in the future. Any ideas TL? Something good for parties? Something to impress ladies? Something that's just a hell of a lot of fun to do? Also looking for some good free multiplayer stuff or any good online Dungeons and Dragons clients if such a thing exists. :3. you play drums iirc. thats a GREAT basis for learning a new non-percussion instrument. buy a cheap guitar and teach yourself how to play - mine cost like 100 dollars and plays just fine even according to people who have played for years. o and if ur gonna play guitar, u should practice singing too then u can impress ladies by double bassing/hihatting with ur feet and guitaring with ur hands and singing with ur mouth at the same time cuz that would be fucking sick ^^ edit: nvm you already know how to play guitar lol give piano a shot i say. you can get a keyboard for like 200 and as a musician its probably good to have one anyway even if you dont play it that much

While piano is worthwhile to learn and has the bonus of giving you fast fingers, it is NOT easy to learn. Well, I guess sort of easy to learn but very difficult to be good at. I have played the piano since I was very young, and I still consistently run into people that are vastly better than I. In summary: While rewarding, piano takes a lot of time to be able to really do something with. You won't play Alla Turca right off the bat. Also, if you're looking to impress someone, don't do piano as you WILL run into those people (surprisingly frequently) who are amazing at piano because they practice for 4 hours a day since they were 6 years old. That would be my advice

But seriously, a friend of mine can identify any font almost instantly, and can design pretty cool ones too. It perfectly fits the description of a "hobby"!

1. Too fucking big, can't take it anywhere = nobody will see your skills. 2. There are people who are ridiculously good. 3. Takes too long to get to an acceptable "show-off" level. Trust me, I've been playing piano since I was like 8 and it doesn't help at all. I second dancing.

dang. That's the most mundane splinter cell poop ever : ( I think you should knit over that. Has a similar feel but much greater rewards.

You want to be the cool dude in the corner being like: "thats not really hard at all".... then embarrassing him and wandering off. I gotta say, there are some ways of pulling it off though. Not at a party though..... What about waiting at a bus stop (or something similar)? Whip it out to kill some time, and it definitely gets some attention. Being able to solve it quickly isn't even a prerequisite in this situation. Granted, it works better when it's a 4X4 or a 5X5 cube (or higher, although I dunno, I haven't gotten a V-cube 6 or 7..... yet.....), but whatever..... It's still pretty impressive. And can easily get at least a conversation started.
