Player analysis LaXerCannon
#posts: 29
Votes: DTA at the very end of day 1, TheGilaBoy near the beginning of day 2.
What he posted: Opened up with "I'm back" at the end of day 1. Since then he has been active, confirming receiving a DTA PM. Apparantely the PM saved him from totally missing the game. He does some clue digging night 1 making a couple connections not previously made. He claims to be poor at analyzing behavior. Based on the clues, he names Hugoboss21 and DCLXVI as suspect, but admits that it's really not enough to consider accusations. On day 2 he does some more clue digging looking to make more new connections. He then provides an analysis of TheGilaBoy.+ Show Spoiler + He from here on names TheGilaBoy as his primary suspect - enough to take his vote rather than going for DeuceGladlier (though he does not begrudge the Deuce votes). He voices against being against the double lynch as he wants to wait until we have two stronger suspects. He continues to attack TheGilaBoy citing the particular clue link makes him a strong target rather than the others who had weaker links. He claims reverse common logic on DeuceGladier stating that if Deuce defends himself it'll look more mafia than if he says nothing.
My thoughts: I read pro town on him. He needs to keep up this level of activity. His clue digging has been helpful, but I think he puts too much weight into it at this time. I will put a lot more credit into clues when we can stack them on a target rather than just trying to hang off of a single link. Alternatively, if a DT confirmed a clue I would hang on that as well - but there's the additional element of believing the DT here.
My advice to LaXerCannon: Keep clue digging, but keep an open mind. Keep your activity level up. It's fine if you don't feel strong at behavior analysis, but go ahead and give it a shot anyway.

Alright, we're late in day 2 and I'm headed out for a few hours. I'm not sure if I'll be back before close of voting, but even if I am, I probably won't be able to influence it much anymore. So, some parting thoughts.
I think that the info on MooCow is insufficient to hang him at this time. Hanging MooCow and finding him town will make a couple people look bad, but not so badly that we could justify hanging them for it. Turning MooCow up red will similarly not implicate anyone all that strongly.
Compare this to DeuceGladlier. This is an inactive poster - a strike against him because if we allow posters like this to remain in the game, other posters who may be mafia (eg Hugoboss21, CompX, etc) will have no incentive to post. Deuce may turn up green, but by the very nature that so many people are against hanging this target I am inclined to believe him more likely to be red than when I first voted for him. If he does turn up red, it's going to look very poorly on some people - strongly enough that we may have a real case.
Even if it were only randomly likely that Deuce was mafia, he's still the way to go. If we allow this game to be decided by random chance (which is what happens when noone posts), the mafia win the vast majority of games.

The vote has not been decided yet, there is plenty of time to switch.
What the hell does lynching deuce give us? At best, a red. But we all know that's a fat chance. So most likely he's going to flip green. What information can we glean from that? Not a godamn thing, since everyone voting for him has the excuse that they are trying to take out inactives. Let that fucker rot as dead weight for another day -- if he's town, letting him live isn't hurting us. If we vote MooCow and he flips town, at least there will be some interesting information to analyze afterwards (and I will look suspicious as hell, but I'm willing to take that risk).
So this is pretty weird imo... After AFJ posts this saying i'm less suspicious and my "analysis" was decent enough for him to not yell at me he does this.
You first post about me on page 42 and we currently on page 43. Page 42 - I defend myself Page 43 - I say why i'm suspicious of Zeks and I also say i'm still suspicious of YI but getting less suspicious of Darth. I give my thoughts on pyro and vote for Deuce. I also say i'm suspicious of people with low activity and the people that voted for Gilaboy. Page 45 - I explain clearly why i'm voting for Deuce and not weak targets.
The stuff above answers the spoilered posts. Now what's confusing is the time at which you came back to call me out and the people that are voting for me, other than you are DCLXVI and Misder. Both are low posters and posted close to each other. Misder also posts 2 minute right after you saying almost the same thing. You accused LunarDestiny of doing the bandwagon thing and it seems like you're trying to create one right now.
But the most confusing thing is how much you're going after me. If i'm not mafia as you said yourself you'd would look suspicious but maybe you have a plan to come out of it. I'm starting to think you're mafia by trying to create bandwagons and as soon as you posted that the inactive people come in right after.

In case anyone is wondering, I am around, I am reading (I was catching up in the voting thread first), and having 11 hours cut out of your day to go to work means you have much less time for mafia.
I will be making substantial post(s) before I go to bed tonight and I probably won't be up much past 02:00 GMT (+00:00) tonight ... which is of course when the day ends. I'll stick around long enough to see the results if they're up quickly.

How long do you suggest we keep this up for? Once we get rid of deuce is Hugo / CompX next? On the flip side, if all we get rid of are inactive posters, the mafia will just target our assets (active posters) since they know we'll just fuck ourselves over anyway. With that of course we can focus our medics on our active posters, but theres only so many people they can watch every night.
We tried once with jiabung, if we fail today again with deuce we better be rethinking our strategy.
Looking at night 2, mafia spread their hits pretty evenly. Assuming MTF got hit...the mafia must've came to a conclusion that the medics were going to protect the active posters (which is a good idea) thus they decided to hit 2 guys who were 99.9% not going to get protected (Elyas and barth) and tried to kill off some town lurkers who might've been blue. They tried to get lucky on MTF but failed. After night 2 we actually came out in fairly good shape. However for night 3 I'm thinking that we're not gonna get so lucky this time and contributer(s) are going down.
If Deuce flips red: Pretty sure everyones going to look at the Gila list first, or who wasn't for this lynch - probably wondering if they tried to start a bandwagon, and the people who voted for Deuce last to check for bandwagoners. I'm very uncertain that Deuce will flip red because I think the mafia would do more than that to save a fellow teammate. Look how easily the votes stacked up.
If Deuce flips green: We look at the people who started the "bandwagon". Unfortunately we won't be able to come to many conclusions because most of them are our leaders and active posters - and its rather easy to say "we were just unlucky thats all - let's try another inactive" and everyone would most likely dismiss it as an honest mistake.
If we hang MooCow we'd have more information in the fact that he's talked more and theres actually stuff to analyze - plus his behaviour has been weird lately anyway. And it would also imply somewhat who's town and who's not. Am I for this lynch? Somewhat. Will I end up voting for him? Maybe. Will it matter? No.
I can see the fact that an inactive poster is as good as dead anyway but its a shot in the dark. I can live with deuce dying today, but again, if he flips green, there better be no more of this crap happening with the day 3 lynch - we're getting rid of some real people. If he flips red you can say I told you so.

I like AFJ's logic for moocow, so I will change my vote to him. I do not think it will really change much at this point though, unless enough people sign on again and read his logic.
It would be interesting to have everyone who leaves their vote on Deuce explain why they left their vote on Deuce. If nothing else, it would be good at rooting out the guys who log on once to vote and post and are then gone for the rest of the day.
|
The thing is, we're only targetting inactives today b/c there aren't any concrete targets. Maybe Day 3 there will be but, since there's not much evidence--well, not enough to justify taking him out over deuce, we're going for deuce for this lynch. It's probable that someone will have a lot of evidence against him for the next lynch--meaning lynching him is probably better than just killing an inactive poster.

Might as well wrap up the discussion on this point, since I still have no idea what you're talking about. Here's my post you referenced (657) Show nested quote + AcrossFiveJulys wrote:

Trying to find very vague pointers to other people (me for example) to divert attention away from yourself also immediately after the clue was posted is highly suspect.
Perhaps you misunderstood the 2nd line? I'm just saying that he (gilga) defended himself by saying the clues could have pointed at other people including me, which is rather suspicious. Oh, shit, yeah, I misread that.

I'm personally leaving my vote on Deuce because 1) If he's not red he's the most fucking useless player in TL mafia history and is actually playing worse than if he'd just done nothing and gotten modkilled. 2) If he's red then he might actually be making some sense.
Once I mull over the rest of what I've read I will be back, but I need a break for a bit first. Keep looking for good targets; I'll comment on what I've seen when I get back.

Personally, I would rather vote TyranoS_NiveK out instead of MooCow based my analysis, but since its not likely to sway votes this late, I decided that we might as well get rid of an ambigous case. I'll actually do my analysis on TyranoS_NiveK since AFJ has already made accusations of MooCow, hopefully the next day since I have exams I have to study for.
Its just that I would rather vote someone off that might actually be useful than some inactive that just doesn't care about the game.
|
Also, Deucegladlier doesn't even have clues pointing to him (at least that we have found), so its even more unlikely that he is the mafia. I'd rather spend a turn taking the riskier move than waiting and allowing the mafia to kill another 3 people.
@MooCow I didn't say exactly what AcrossFiveJulys said. Sure I read what he said and took it into consideration, but I'm not voting you out because you are being overly cautious; I voting you out because of the ambiguity. Maybe this isn't the best; but again, I would rather take the risk, especially since you do have clues pointing to you.

Fine, so I've started a bandwagon. There's a difference between a bandwagon based on posting behavior analysis and clue linkage and a bandwagon for in inactive with absolutely no other clues tied to him. The people who changed their vote to you clearly also see through your behavior, and I hope the rest who agree with me aren't too shy to change their vote from useless deuce to you. Please only jump on this bandwagon if you agree with my logic and not because all the cool kids are doing it (which they are >:O).

Why would I go balls out and lead an offensive against you if I was mafia? Clearly I am going to be the one blamed if you get hung and flip blue or green. Sacrificing myself as a mafioso just to net one town kill and possibly save mafia deuce (lol) for one day would not be worth it, since either a vigi would nab deuce tonight or he would get hung at some later time after me.
I don't have hard evidence against you (just clues and posting behavior) but you are glowing red in my eyes.

Are you trying to imply that DCLXVI, Misder, and AFJ are a mafia bandwagon?
As for your timing window argument you think posting around the same time makes you mafia? I dont think the mafia are always all logged in at the same time to post simulateneously.
Think about the risks we are running to vote for you. We are most likely going to be a small list of voters voting against you and in the case you turn green, we are all going to get blamed for it. Vig hits, future lynches, dt checks you name it.
Besides the town wouldn't be missing too much of your finger pointing and "clue analysis" if you're dead. You're practically as confusing as deuce...and we'd get more out of you dead then deuce dead (whether you turn green or red - because you are definitely not a blue)

Ok, this sounds like pro-town behavior. I don't get anything suspicious off this post. From my limited experience playing mafia in real life, I don't know how much can carry over. From my experience in the more serious games we played, the mafia are often the ones who are desperately portraying themselves as town. They will often aim to be very active or tend to shy back. In this online version, I can't really equate the idea of "activity" directly, but my spidey-senses are tingling. For someone that has worked so hard campaigning on mayor, to suddenly switch to be pardoner is indeed suspicious. While you do have a systematic detailed plan outlined out, I find that you're often pushing your candidacy more than your plan. Again, my intuition tells me that if you truly have faith in it, you would have no problem merely putting it out for discussion. Although I've played with "defensive townies" before, you seem to adamantly defend your innocence (often before citing "reasons"). Consequently based on the mechanics of the game, I think it's rather risky to vote you as the mayor. Since clues are limited, I can only speak from experience. I wonder if any vets can help us out on the "nature" of clues as the game goes on.
Again, nothing suspicious. I think that he may be pro-town who has internet connections. But this is based on only 4 quotes. I think we need to see more activity from him.

There is, however, the fact that he's linked to MooCow through the identical profile clue (check out sputnik.theory's post earlier if you missed it) and MooCow is clearly suspicious already. If one of them turns out to be mafia it seems likely the other one is as well.

Btw, what is the deal with icysoul? He hasn't posted in the thread since the game began and he hasn't been modkilled (is there a special reason he's allowed to be gone flamewheel?). Also, is supernovamaniac supposed to return from the math competition soon?

7. If you miss a vote or fail to post during one day cycle, you will receive a warning. The next time it happens it results in a modkill. He will be modkilled at the deadline tonight if he has not completed his requirements.
