Those Korean die becauce they play straigh for days and didnt eat anything. Btw, the first few weeks after the school starts is the best time to skip classes

It's the week after spring break and he stopped going to class and plays games for roughly 20 hour intervals, taking short breaks for sleeping between the hours of noon and 5pm. He eats during games. Should I tell my RA? I think this guy has a serious gaming addiction. hi as an RA i believe that people should live their own lives and are free to do whatever they want. however if you start noticing things like changes in eating habits and changes in social interactions (ie used to hang out with a group of friends but now he never goes out w/ them anymore, etc) then excessive computer gaming may be a sign of depression or some other type of coping mechanism. also if his grades take a serious nosedive (some people are able to get decent grades while skipping a ton of classes) this is another reason for concern. if you are genuinely worried for your roommate it doesn't hurt talking to an RA about it.

What does a RA do?, because if you are supposed to give advice, allowing him to "live his life and do whatever he wants" is like the complete opposite.

RAs are not full-fledged counselors. we are only para-professionals. we deal with minor things like roommate conflicts, academic concerns etc. for anything serious, such as drug addictions, depression, eating disorders, we are directed to refer the person to an actual professional. basically RAs are not really supposed to give advice. why? because we aren't professionals and everyone's situations are very different. we don't know their entire background. we help guide the resident towards a resolution that they have come up with on their own, or with the help of a professional. i could go into more detail if you want, but thats basically the gist of what we do outside of programming and documentation.
