Pausing sucks, it disrupts the game flow. I don't usually unpause instantly, but I understand people who do it in ladder games. It's slightly different when it's a tournament game I guess.

For a ladder game, if they give a reason I'll just do something on my laptop while waiting. No reason = unpause.

You make a game, someone joins, they dont pick a race or say anything as an indication of wanting to play, then leave because you're just sitting there waiting. Some times I've just started the game, only to see them leave later couse they werent ready. If you're not ready dont join ffs, or at least say SOMETHING. And sometimes they pause like 4 seconds after the game has started. Whats up with that, come the fuck on. And when there's slightly lagging, its never "are you lagging" or "it might be me lagging" its "?" or "????" or "?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????" and it just pisses me the fuck off, so I just reply "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" jesus christ I swear to God one of these days its just *rattattattatata* LOL i hate that ????????????? shit too! next time i'll respond !!!!!!!!!!!!! as well hahah. i just start the games after "hi" "gl hf" and sometimes people leave after i type "hi" lol. to the pausing and unpausing stuff, i think it says in the iccup rules somewhere that nobody is obligated to wait. therefore nothing can be done for those who can't wait like 20 seconds

I can see how a progamer has a busy life when training, but you playing SC in your free time doesn't count as busy. The pause in the game is also a good time to take a second to think how the game progressed, what you did wrong and right and what you want to do next. That being said, without a reason given I just unpause myself, and otherwise I just wait as long as I think it is appropriate to wait. It doesn't take more than 30 seconds to tell a person you'll call them back within 15 minutes, so I'd roughly unpause at that time.

The argument you use in the OP works both ways, is moving up a rank and winning a game really so important that you're gonna make some guy you don't even know 3 minutes on you?
