I think those videos are so wonderful because you see how the children come to appreciate themselves as individuals (the girl bringing in her father's final drawing, students sharing their personal feelings with classmates), and as a result come to appreciate their peers and the world around them as well. Thanks for posting, those were really moving.

Not only do people not value life in general, we don't even value our own lives, our integrity, our pride. When you cease to value yourself, you cannot value anything. For someone to be important to you, for someone's life, ideals, culture to matter to you implies that you yourself are of value; that the attention and sensitivity you give to things carries some merit. People say the world has gone to the greedy and selfish, but in reality those who steal, rob and cheat are selfless, they have no respect for themselves and thus are incapable of respect for anything. Thanks for posting, those were really moving. Doesn't selfless mean the opposite of selfish? I hated talking about myself and using first person words. For some reason, I also hated people when they talked about themselves only and didn't care and can't seem to appreciate others.

After a hard day of work, just before going home I got caught up watching the documentary - it was breath of fresh air. A good teacher is worth his weight in gold.

I feel guilty now, since these 10 years olds have shown that elementary school kids can show greater humanity than I definitely have in my entire life. Maybe humanity still has a glimmer of hope!
