This is my 1st blog. I was waiting for something good to put in it. Maybe this will do.
So I was just on ICCUP getting owned as usual, and I joined this game. Game started and I moved my drones and then hit SD to make another drone. It wouldn't go. I hit it again a few more times. Then I looked up at my mins and saw that they were at zero. Wtf! I asked the other player if it happened to him too. He had no idea what was going on.
I left the game because it was laggy. I checked the replay and sure enough, I was @ 0 mins at the start. Never even knew that it was possible. Crazy..! Heres the replay if you care. >>> http://www.repdepot.net/replay.php?id=7136
So I wanted to know has this ever happened to anyone else? Has it happened in any important televised game? I'm sure that I'm not the only one.
Anyways, thats my story, thanks for reading.

LOL I think this has happened before in a televised game, I believe it was YellOw that it happened to let me look for it quickly

This is a fairly common bug, and it has happened in a pro game iirc

This is why there needs to be a ref for pro-matches I guess.
Honestly I've never seen this but I doubt you'd make it up. But, if this can happen, why can't it start you with 100 minerals another time? That would be something.

Haha cool. I figured that it had happened before. But I'd never really heard about it. I wish I could start with 100 mins. Super fast 4 pool ftw!

I've seen numerous threads before on this, it's a random bug, nothing more.

Also OP, I find it humorous that you left because it was laggy

I've had it happen to me before, but the game was played on UMS, so I thought it was just some shady map editting going on.

I think you really need to re-evaluate how you approach this game.

what's wrong with leaving a laggy game?

It is a reverse minhack which was caused by the unlucky sequence of commands you gave together with perfect timing.
6 Orange-Juice Select 3633 3633 6 Orange-Juice Select Larva(x3) 3625,3632,3631 6 Orange-Juice Hatch Drone 6 Orange-Juice Shift Select Drone(x4) 3629,3628,3627,3626 6 Orange-Juice Move (139,3840),3650,228,0 3650 6 Orange-Juice Stop 0 the decisive part is that you build a drone and give it a stop command in the same frame. This causes your build to be cancelled withour refund. Some older minhacks used siminar timing attacks, but of course giving you the mins.
On broodwar.de we had some guy who claimed to have that bug in about 1of 4 games. He seems to have been able to reproduce that sequence rather well. But of course its easier to give the commands in one frame on bnet latency than on lan latency. But with a lagspike in the beginning it is still possible.
edit: The stop command was only given because you selected drones after giving the hatch command. Else the s key would have been ignored. so you have to: 1) press d (give a hatch command) 2) add drones to the selection, but keep the larva selected 3) press s (give a stop command) all in one frame.

It's cool to hear the technical explanation. This has happened to be several times before, and it only happens with zerg

Cause I don't see any other reason someone would press stop

obviously you require more minerals

Oh nice, so hypothetically a zerg player could master this technique if his starting point is bad to call for a restart?
