my observation is that a lot of koreans just insta-blacklist anyone with the BSL- tag because they associate the tag with foreigners and/or lag.
this seems like an oversight. i recommend setting up BSL on shieldbattery instead of the global ladder.
players: you are basically permenantly handicapping/obstructing your ability to use matchmaking vs koreans on battlenet if you register a bnet account with a BSL tag. If you see that you match with someone but the races/map/player countdown splashscreen shows up blank, and you are returned to matchmaking, its happening to you.
Overall this is a great tourney and I love to see more BW content. Thanks Zzzero for all that you do. Shieldbattery is simply not used by enough people to make it the primary way to determine a ladder ranking, also the fact that if only BSL players showed up on shieldbattery, the ladder would be completely different, since it's a smaller eco system. Bnet ladder allows for us to play against random people and not have queue times exponentially long. Also, I don't find that every Korean blocks IPs/names. I've had many Koreans (unfortunately very BM) face me on ladder.
Considering BSL is a closed tournament, your point about ShieldBattery being a more closed environment actually makes it more valuable for that purpose, since it would be primarily BSL players playing against other BSL players in a longform league. I'm also biased, but I'd like to see more activity on SB and "well nobody plays there so what's the point" is a negative snowball argument that I can't abide. SB already offers better latency and more features than Bnet, without the rampant abuse, issues, and downtime that plague Bnet.

It has never happened to me. Always match vs koreans including many klauncher users.

Any reason the group draw is so close to playday 1? You have the list of players for already 3 days, give the group draw this weekend or the next. Hell give a full draw (winner grA ro24 to grA ro16 etc...)
Also explain reserve days, same as the previous seasons?
If so i m gonna say once again what I ve been telling you every season:
Give more time between draw and week 1, get rid of the reserve week and/or have 2 different deadlines for upper bracket and lower bracket of a group (upper first, lower a week later).
15mins late after deadline=insta wo.
Wo without giving notice or reason within a reasonable time=ban from following season.
Having those seasons with 40% wo every season is just beyond annoying and saps the motivation to play. Those should be easy fixes. Don't punish the people who actually show up by being lenient on the no shows

Yes there is a reason: the full list of ProLeague participants won't be known until 2 weeks before the first play date. On top of that I will be on holiday for most of the next two weeks (in part to go to the BSL Warsaw LAN, where the last ProLeague contestant is determined). After I return I have my sister visiting and will see when I will have time to do the groups, but I hope to release them on the day noted in the schedule at the latest, so a full week before the first play day. The groups are being released earlier than usual, based in a large part on your feedback from last season. From everything I've written down from last season's feedback I don't see anything about having different deadlines for WB and LB in the Ro32, but I really like the idea. I think I will replace the reserve day scheme with that - that will definitely take a big load of off coordination between players.
The rest is also in my notes, I just was on holiday during BSL19 preparations and didn't have my notes to adjust rules - but repeated confirmation without showing up will result in punishments from now on.

Luckily I don't do it all on my own. CamoDaz is admining ChoboLeague, and psyCrowe usually helps out here and there, especially a lot with gathering the confirmation information. However, I prepare the groups, with seeding, challonge setup, discord role assignment, etc., so it does have to wait until my return to release all of that.

I m pretty sure I did but I also wrote a bunch of stuff (sorry TT) so no worries if it got lost the first time around. You got it now so it s all good
For the draw to week 1, you are busy and i also thought, like eon, that you weren't doing all/most of the job by yourself, and that there was a 2nd or 3rd person helping you at least before the league started, like draws etc. Tbh I thought ZZZero was handling the draws and schedule and you were handling more day to day operations (in BWCL terms, ZZZero would do the head admin and super admin job, and you d do the CL admin job).
Unfortunately I no longer have the time to offer any help but if it works out with the rest of schedule and Christmas break, maybe pp everything by a week? Or is there a way someone trusted can make the draw for chobo and hasu for you while you are away? Having more than one full weekend between draw and week 1 to plan games ,possibly intercontinental and across multiple non trivial time zones, is a huge positive change especially in the lower leagues where people are less active in general.
Nonetheless have fun at the LAN! And take pictures (and post them here ^^)
PS: also it seems that I complain a lot but I appreciate everything you do and I m just trying to make things smoother both for you and any BSL players~ sharing the experience, as it were. Keep up the good work!

I trust everyone on the team to do it. But it takes quite a bit of time, and I don't want to burden others with it who signed up for doing smaller things. Especially since doing it for the first time, compared to doing it for the 10th time, is also a big difference in time investment. ZZZero already has much more to do than me with ProLeague alone. The amount of preparation for that is more than you might think. Plus the LAN of course. Unfortunately I also cannot move the schedule back by a week, because that's where my end of year holidays will begin 😅
I think there will be 20+ people at the LAN, I'm sure we'll get some good pictures

Yes, but if it was required to play the SB ladder, at least most people would find opponents with better latency

why don't the organizers hold the matches according to the schedule? Today is supposed to be the final, as indicated on their website.
