Whats humiliating is that the returning players are ao bad though. The ones suffering through the injury crisis make sense that they are tired

Now i agree they should never have been in the title challenge, but its not an easy cop out and say its because they are burnt out thats not true at all. They have rotated there squad well this season and even into that Everton loss they rested the 3 in midfield and rested Salah and Nunez. For both Salah and Nunez to be shocking vs Everton. Scouse defense is back to being poor because they can't fit the system in with Trent which leaves way to many holes. Everton were deserved winners last night which should never be a thing and Nunez for £90 million is going to be a big wtf form Klopps amazing legacy. Van Dijk even after the game came out and questioned the guys attitude he is playing with which is madness, they were in the hunt for titles and his captain is saying that.

If a team starts slowly and kills it in the second half of the season they’re ’clutch’, if they smack it out of the park in the first half of the season and slow down a bit they’re ’chokers’ Start of the season folks expected Liverpool to drop off, having to rebuild their midfield shortly after having to rebuild 2/3 of their iconic front 3. They exceed expectations, fall a bit short and then they’re considered failures for ultimately doing a hell of a lot better than most expected?

How many times have City, Arsenal and Liverpool been 'out of the title race' because they dropped points this season? Between them at least 10.

That's how good teams (on paper) find themselves suddenly in a relegation spot. Liverpool has thrown away 3 titles in ~ 2 weeks. That does something in your head

On top of that, our team has an awful tendency to concede early then spend the whole game chasing back two goals. Doing it a few times at the beginning of the season, no a big deal, because your mentality is fresh and you can put the effort in. When it happens over and over again, the team breaks down and you get exhausted, both mentally and physically, because you have to work extra hard to get those goals in. Plus now you're panicking as time winds down, adding to anxiety and stress. At some point, it's no longer sustainable, as we can see from the last few games we've played. It is what it is at the end of it all, we had an objectively good/great season compared to our pre-season expectations with a total midfield rebuild. Lot of people expected us to scrape by with a top 4 and not be contenders in any trophy, so to win one and be title contenders for basically the entire season until the end is an achievement. Yet because we were contending in every single cup, the end of the season feels underwhelming. But I think when we all look back, we can call this season a success in the grand scheme of things. Also no clue why we're blaming Trent for "defensive issues." Konate gave up the first silly goal in the first scramble, and the 2nd goal you could say was maybe his fault for not jumping for the header, but also you shouldn't expect him to be matched up against their striker. Final thoughts: not the season ending we wanted, but I also think it's time to maybe part with Salah. His form looks ridiculous right now and if Saudi asked us again over the summer for a 150m transfer fee, I'd immediately take it and look for new prospects. Nunez... idk how I feel. We'd obviously take a loss on him if we sold him this summer but part of me still wants to believe in him. Maybe give him one more chance next year and if he still has finishing issues, we look for another striker on the market and sell him for like 50m. Looking forward to seeing how Slot fits in as new manager and hopefully a new rejuvinated side.

The burn out mental excuse should also not count due to most of that team has not won the league? Sala, Van Dijk, Allison, Trent, Robertson....thats it out of the first 11 have won the league, the rest should be hungry to do so and not suffer from "Burn out" lol Trent is always the problem because he doesn't go back which causes overloads and counters or people skipping by him. Everton game excluded doesn't mean he hasn't been at fault for a lot of scouse defensive issues at the start of the season. I do concede scouse finishing top 4 is a great result though, but when they were so close because lets all be honest here, City had an extremely under par season off the back of that treble considering what they done, you do think of what could have been. Arsenal though they are just happy being at the top table im sure even though again they had a great chance and drop points vs lesser sides at crucial moments. The term bottle jobs does get thrown around too quickly, this season i dont think bottling counts for Arsenal but 100% last season that terms counts because they were ahead by fucking 13 points with like 10 games left lol

Making a comeback occasionally is fine, City have fallen behind a couple times this year, but if it happens again and again, players lose confidence in themselves to keep clean sheets. It's our own fault, I'm not making any excuses for how we're finishing the season, I'm just saying that's how it is for us. We needed to play and defend better, simple as that. Trent was out for a good portion of the season and we still conceded loads even without him. I don't like this whole scapegoating Trent as if he's the only reason we can't keep a clean sheet. Where's the fault on Robbo when he pushes way too high and leaves a massive hole at LB on the counter where VVD has to slide to help and it drags the entire team out of position as a result? Should Trent be better defensively? Sure, which is why I'd love to see him get pushed to midfield at some point, but idk why people want to just look at him as if he's the entire team's defensive problem.

If I were a Liverpool fan the only real massive disappointment would be the Atalanta game, they probably should have beat United in the cup and they’ve given the league a good crack. That first leg was a disaster though Trent is occasionally at fault but even that is overblown IMO and it kinda misses the point anyway. It’s an excellent Liverpool side but it’s not one overflowing with creativity, it’s an acceptable tradeoff Hell if Trent was a defensive colossus he’d be one of the greatest players in the history of the game

It's not easy to play this "concede first FC" style that they've been doing. As I've mentioned before, it requires additional energy to make up that gap rather than sort of coasting and playing keep away once you've taken the lead and letting the opponents come to you and burn their energy. There's a reason why Arsenal and City don't seem to be faltering mentally compared to us because they play clean games where they're under no stress or pressure to close out games, unlike us who struggle even against weak teams. Yeah i agree conceding first mentality is not good, that is why we suck utter trash and poch is terrible because we cannot defend, regardless of all the chances we miss, we concede way too many shots a game let alone concede goals and you can't win that way, so i understand that point and i agree with you. Personally think Arsenal mentality could be questioned? Losing the games they have this season might show that? Maybe not, maybe my very big bias is showing haha. Yeah Roberston i think this season has been in his worse form, looks to be beaten a lot easier than he has ever has done before, but i still think Trent should just be moved into midfield, England screaming for that kind of midfielder too and would mean Southgate would play him as he doesn't like him at right back because he wont play him as wingback. I always say to my scouse friends, why not play a back 3, trent and robo as wingbacks screams utter chaos!!

Board at liverpool does not like back 3 tactic and that was one of the reasons amorim was out says the so called insiders in Portuguese football (other reason was that they were pissed he also talked to WHU). Agree on Salah and obviously Nunez, i've told you guys ever since he joined, not worth close to his transfer value. Worse part is, the amount of money Felix and Nunez gathered was enough the destroy the balance in the Portuguese league to a point where i dont think it will recover soon.

Oh wow didn't know that about the back 3 thing, thats weird as well because just because its set up as a back 3 does not mean you are defensive and not going to score goals etc. Hope Amorim stays put until we get rid of stupid Poch!!!
