He plays for the dominant club in EPL and has already won everything there is to win. Doesn't need to contest for his spot in the national team, and maybe isn't that interested (or getting sufficient offers) to go do the same thing in another top 5 European league. What would be his reason to stay? Unless you have that internal motivation to keep pushing and pushing like some people do (CRonaldo, Modric, Buffon) etc., he's done everything a footballer in his place can do, and then some.
I play children's card games and watch a lot of dota, CS and HS

As you say, provided the Kingdom keeps pumping the money in, which I suppose isn’t guaranteed, he’ll still have that opportunity in a few years when he perhaps is a bit over the hill when it comes to top level European football

KdB is rather injury prone. There is no guarantee that money will still be there in a year, after another season of people kicking his knees and ankles.

There’s pretty much a guarantee of a similar wage with Man City if he wants it I’d imagine.

Hey it’s his life! I’d love to see a few more top Europeans do what Clarence Seedorf did and give South America a shot, albeit a big reason he did that was having a Brazilian wife.

Perhaps I’m just too innately hostile to Saudi Arabia to be objective on tangential topics :p

I suspect that wage isn't available at City, or he would probably stay. While City could probably afford it, they maybe don't want to set that precedent, or maybe they just don't think KdB is actually worth N times more than what they're already paying him.

Oh I mean a similar wage packet at City to what they’re currently paying him. Yeah they probably can’t/won’t match the top end of Saudi wages

Lots of players increased their worth during the Euro, some lost out. KdB is def. not one of the players that increased, maybe City wants to start building their future with a newer younger player. I dont like players to go to Saudi Arabia but I cant blame them for wanting to cash in.

even though there are some players like Modric who keep it up at 39, 33 is pretty old and can be close to retirement age for KDB. Kroos just retired from a position requiring less running and a career with far fewer injuries than KDB and he's only a year and a half older. I can totally picture him having only 1-2 seasons left, maybe retiring after the next WC is most likely.

Kroos isnt really a good example of when footballers retire though! Almost no one does what Kroos did.

City also doesnt give older players long contracts IIRC. Didnt they lose quite a few players because they were not willing to give longer contracts?

Kubo to LFC would be a surprise and a good move, but also depends on the financials. The rumored 60 million is a bit steep (if pounds. Euros would be better), and 15m/year is also unreasonably high unless the articles are misreporting it as 15m over the whole contract.

But a natural replacement for Salah at RW which is a position we're a bit light in (Harvey, Szobo, and Diaz can all put a shift in there but it's not ideal).

Romano doesn't know much when it comes to Liverpool, and these are Japanese sources that also broke Endo's move initially too. I'd lean more into that these rumors are true than fake.

re: kdb leaving

there's also the impending 115 cases against city which may expedite his departure (along with others looking to leave)

Wanting to win medals that won't get stripped from you is a great motivation to leave!

Perhaps unfair, but I think "stupid games, stupid prizes" applies to the Saudi league pretty well. I don't think KdB (or anyone else) is going to be remembered for winning the Saudi league or their PotY or anything

Not sure if anyone saw the debacle at the Olympics already. Argentina vs Morocco, Argentina score a last minute equalizer, then fireworks go off from a protestor/pitch invader near their bench. They think FT happened but apparently officials reviewed the equalizer for offsides, so they had to go back out and play another 3 minutes. Morocco win 2-1. Lol.

that equalizer is a totally sick goal too lol, two hits in the bar (not offside) before the final rebound into goal.

I'm surprised it got that far without Argentina being booed off the field of play.

Argentina channeled their inner Nunez for that entire sequence hitting the woodwork over and over again. Definitely an incredible sequence, only for the actual goal to be called off.

Never seen anything like it. Can't really imagine a more insane ending tbh, seriously.. glad Morocco won in the end.
