The guy is biased but does raise some interesting points. Never before have conflicts been so well documented and it might lead to some interesting outcomes in the future. One of the accounts documenting some of this stuff: https://twitter.com/ytirawi

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/al-jazeera-journalist-outed-as-hamas-commander-by-idf/ar-BB1iaQIR troops operating in northern Gaza several weeks ago found a laptop at a Hamas base that belonged to Mohamed Washah, who has appeared in Al Jazeera broadcasts since the Oct. 7 massacre. Information on the laptop showed that Washah, 37, from central Gaza’s Bureij neighborhood, is a “prominent commander” in Hamas’s anti-tank missile unit. In late 2022, he began working on research and development in the terror group’s air force.

I’ve little doubt that some journalists from outlets from nations hostile to Israel will be moonlighting in such a fashion, but who is verifying these claims? Have other bodies done so? Not a hostile or accusatory question, but a genuine one

One of the accounts documenting some of this stuff: https://twitter.com/ytirawi A military conflict engaged in by Gen Z is definitely surreal. You can tell that this YouTuber's real thesis is the ol' reliable "Israel bad" rather than a more interesting "war crimes aren't hidden anymore," from the fact that his examples are clips of Israelis pooping or destroying empty buildings rather than the self published clips of Palestinians in civilian garb raping and dismembering civilians. Especially with the latter actually being clear war crimes. Of course, that would also ruin his point about us being desensitized, since even military video junkies would be disturbed by those videos.

In this case, they have photos of him assembling anti-tank rockets, wielding them, apparently teaching other soldiers how to fire them, etc. Sounds like they have more stuff on his laptop that was found in a Hamas base, but I don't know how much of that they have publicized for other groups to verify yet.

True he should have pulled the clips of Palestinians stripped, tied up, and beaten, or clips of the thousands of Palestinians held without trial, or the absolute demolished state of Gazan infrastructure.

There's a lot of evidence of war crimes out there, it's only a matter of proving it.

"People in Rafah said two mosques and several residential buildings were hit in more than an hour of strikes, which also ripped through tents where people had taken shelter." https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-strikes-rafah-refugee-camp-22-killed-local-health-officials-say-2024-02-12/ Move south they said. Call me old-fashioned but for me an air force is all about planes. But yeah joking aside that makes sense, bit of an oversight on my part. Aye it seems, in that particular incident reasonably cut-and-dry, sans 3rd party verification. I did chase up a few links or two, going off the unmasking of two journalists killed in air strikes as also being Hamas members. The proof given in that instance was just some document shared to social media with a list of names of members. It seems in the absence (to my knowledge, I may be incorrect) of corroboration from elsewhere, that it would be extremely easy to just piss out such a document after the fact. I am trying to strike a sweet spot between healthy skepticism and heavy cynicism here, just to be clear, and I’ve a pretty big knowledge gap here that I’m seeking filled It’s in Hamas’ tactical and strategic interests to have assets with the protected status of journalists (in the ‘it’s morally shitty, but it does make sense category), and Qatar isn’t exactly Israel’s best buddy. So, I’d find it highly unlikely that Qatar’s media arm don’t have journalists who are also Hamas members. The only question there would be are Hamas hiding their assets’ membership, or do Al Jazeera actively court Hamas members? Equally, it also seems, in the (assumed by me, that knowledge gap I mentioned) absence of third-party verification, extremely easy for legitimate Arab journalists killed by Israel to be falsely labelled as Hamas assets after the fact.

Capturing injured prisoners of war and destroying structures utilized by an enemy army are not war crimes (in fact, that's basically just war 101). But I agree. If he found clips of the IDF (or any country for that matter) publishing war crimes, that would make his point a lot better than any of the clips he actually did find.

The IDF just encouraged civilians to evacuate the areas they were planning to engage Hamas in in the North. Once no countries accepted Gazan refugees to areas entirely outside of Hamas control, it was basically inevitable (short of a Hamas surrender) that the IDF would eventually move South and have to ask Gazans to evacuate a second time.

It's definitely fair to have a level of healthy skepticism. That's why I singled out the guy with the smoking gun over the other two Hamas journalists mentioned in the article I posted. I personly doubt Al Jazeera is actively courting Hamas assets. It's more likely that Hamas assets actively try to infiltrate other organizations for strategic reasons. The media situation in Gaza is probably similar to the UNRWA situation. Most of the people willing and able to get good pictures on the ground in Gaza are locals. That means even if Hamas isn't actively trying, it's likely that at least some of the media there are Hamas members and some larger number are sympathizers just statistically.

Just move a million people south, then move a million people north. In the middle of war. Everything's so easy from the pro-Israel perspective. Let me tell the civilians who just got blasted to death that they all have the wrong idea about this.

Let me tell the civilians who just got blasted to death that they all have the wrong idea about this. Oh, I never said it was easy or pleasant. War is hell and should never be entered into lightly. Reasonable alternatives are almost always preferable if they are available. I'm sure the IDF was hoping for a better alternative to arise by the time they got to this juncture instead of a second mass evacuation as well. But negotiations aren't going well and it seems like Hamas leadership and the hostages have been moved south to Rafah.

You don't get over a million people in an area that tiny by accident. The problem here is that there is now a standoff. Its pretty hard for Israel to do anything at all without causing absolute carnage among civilians, so I don't really see what their endgame could possibly be.
