I could see the crowd getting worse if the police shoot and are severely out numbered/positioned but I feel like the right wingers globally are being emboldened by the lack of strong response to events like these. I cant speak for Brazil, but in the US on Jan 6th some of those people deserved to be shot. If you enter a government building with a weapon you are playing a dangerous game.

A nation with an economy the size of Virginia going 100% into the dollar is something that hasn't been seen from the times of colonies. Argentina is a resource-rich country with enormous potential for further development. The country has the second-largest shale gas and fourth-largest shale oil reserves in the world, as well as abundant solar and wind energy resources. Argentina features the third-largest proven lithium reserves, after Chile and Australia, and is expected to become a leading exporter over the next decade. More than 70 percent of Argentina’s proven lithium resources are yet to be exploited. U.S. expertise, technology, and equipment are needed to further develop critical sectors of the economy, such as energy, mining, information & communications technology, infrastructure, and agriculture, among others. The country is digitally capable, with high internet penetration and smart phone use. US corporations are going to take over Argentina. He will be in power on December 10th.

The CIA never had the balls to dollarize a nation it couped. But yeah it looks a lot like a neo-banana republic situation.

Populism, in its accurate political definition, describes the world accurately, and therefore cannot be dumb. But liberals like to pretend that populism means something similar to demagoguery instead of what it actually means, because it allows them to attack "the populist left" by claiming it is comparable to dumbass rightwingers like Milei. Since they don't have a very good criticism of leftist principles, this shortcut is extremely useful in propaganda, and unfortunately a lot of people accept the framing uncritically.

Maybe. Peronism is what caused Argentina to be the only country to go from high income to what it is now. I doubt Milei will have anywhere close to the same effect.

Some of Trump's crazy is performance, he is obviously very stupid but there is an understanding that he's playing for an audience there. It's always hard to tell and it's not like I've followed any of this closely but this guy's crazy seems much more genuine, I don't think there's an audience for hearing voices that aren't there on national television or for speaking to your dead dog for political advice.
