Forgive me gentlemen... I've taken to fancy a certain female bird that works at the local news-agent shop. So I come here frequently, conjuring some bogus reason to use the computer..
if I don't produce something fast and pretend to be involved with the screen & console, my pretext won't held and she'll know my game.
So if this on-the-fly rubbish sounds like miscellaneous shift.. I'm sorry
Ok so yesterday I was talkin' bout the monologue that featured in the Incredibles 2 movie:
I'll post it here just to be sure:
The Screenslaver interrupts this program for an important announcement. Don't bother watching the rest. Elastigirl doesn't save the day; she only postpones her defeat. And while she postpones her defeat, you eat chips and watch her invert problems that you are too lazy to deal with. Superheroes are part of your brainless desire to replace true experience with simulation. You don't talk, you watch talk shows. You don't play games, you watch game shows. Travel, relationships, risk; every meaningful experience must be packaged and delivered to you to watch at a distance so that you can remain ever-sheltered, ever-passive, ever-ravenous consumers who can't free themselves to rise from their couches, break a sweat, and participate in life. You want superheroes to protect you, and make yourselves ever more powerless in the process. While you tell yourselves you're being "looked after". That your interests are being served and your rights are being upheld. So that the system can keep stealing from you, smiling at you all the while. Go ahead, send your supers to stop me. Grab your snacks, watch your screens, and see what happens. You are no longer in control. I am.
let's talk a bit about the 'fear' or control this character seemed to wield during its evil delivery.
It seemed like a judgement cast upon society.
It sounded like super-heroes could be substituted with politicians whose criteria of duty well fits the extent of their duty - which in its quality is feeble and ironically derisive.
I've been wondering, even if a human is destroyed by another thing - be it human or opposing beast.
The mind could have a split second to rationalize their enemy - and break them down atomically and.. reduce their power to nothing more than a physical advantage..
in other words, though it will not save you from defeat, your pride could be one via some mental deduction displacing their evil disposition.
Is there really anything to fear, other than pain and loss itself?
The delivery of the Screen-slaver, sounds cold, evil and methodical
It sounds like science.. which when removed from the setting of a Big Bang theory episode, represents the brutality of nature.
Science being the UNDERSTANDING of nature
(Technology being the resultant application OF OUR understanding of nature)
Yet how terrible.. there is likely nothing more evil than science; being at the mercy of comparison and reason within the scientific entrenchment of Society.
Scientifically, I don't have enough money to pay for my crescent, so I'll be hungry.
Scientifically, I can't afford a doctor..
Scientifically the trajectory of my car caused me to perish in accord to physical laws..
it goes on..
ok lads we'll just leave it at that
