both Bisu and Jaedong have decent chances to advance into the ro8 actually, which would be great for ratings.
exciting ro16 ahead! nice.
Royal changed JyJ with SnOw
That seems like a good move by Royal. I imagine Light and Snow are the two players most capable of eliminating Royal later in the bracket. Now both of them have as difficult a path to the Ro8 as could be arranged.
Go Best!
Edit: it looks like Royal could have swapped Light with Barracks instead, leaving a group of Rush, Light, Zero, Snow? I’m actually a bit surprised he didn’t do that instead. I suppose the choice he did make demonstrates a lot of respect for Best and Soulkey. That is, he must either be more scared of Best/Soulkey than Rush/Zero, or he thinks Best/Soulkey are more likely to knock out Light/Snow than Rush/Zero would be.
Royal picked SnOw and think between Group C and D. He is more concerned SnOw rather than Light. I think he believed SK/Light more than HerO/Bisu.
soulkey best light have relatively good records vs snow over past few months. so that was honestly a realllly good move by royal because royal has a terrrible record vs snow. he wants to avoid snow at all costs.
Not only that. Everyone in group C is a vsTerran specialist, so in any case Royal has better chances at later stages.
As a BeSt fan however, I do think he will struggle a lot. Historically he doesn't do well at all against other Protoss players; even when his PvZ tends to get better, his hardest opponent usually is Soulkey; and Light does have the strongest TvP so even if BeSt is slightly favored in the match up, he might not have it easy.

Soulkey also first picked Best xD. I mean I get that he's good ZvP but that seems dubious. Still favored but it's not a slam dunk. That said, outside of Barracks/Ssak nothing's really a slam dunk this season.
It's too bad that Larva is no longer competing at the top level. The overall skill of the field has increased significantly in recent years and I'd love to see him duke it out in his best shape with the current favorites.
But I can root for Royal once again, and I'm also hoping Snow comes prepared with strong strats because I think he's the dark horse this time around.
NaDa is a real monster, almost in his 40s and still kicking 400 APM. I think he is the only 1st generation pro who made it into ASL and won one of the games on his group and was close to ro16.
I'm gonna echo everyone else and say that yes group C is absolutely insane, but I'm really looking forward to D as well, looks really interesting. Bisu is probably a favorite but I think it's pretty close overall

I love NaDa so much, still salty about his nuke rush vs Larva BARELY not working... If there was a pimpest plays ranking for all ASL seasons, that would easily be number 1...
