after taking care of some business in the day - picking up kit from the boathouse, talking to the bursary, grabbing files off the network drive - I met with a friend from the Masters course for coffee at 4:30, chatted about just stuff in general, what we've been up to, gossipped about our classmates (some of whom we hate lol), and split up around 5:15.
I took a nap, then met up with a friend from rowing at a pub near where I live, and to my surprise a couple more friends from rowing were there as well, presumably they were all at the boathouse for some meeting thing they had to be at for 8pm. So I bought them a round of beers, we sat down and chatted about anything from coursework related stuff, theoretical vs experimental work for thesis, boat club matters, their training doing uni lightweights dev squad, stuff like that. Then the last friend came in about an hour later from the lab and we chatted some more about varoius stuff. I had like 3 pints, slightly buzzed.
Last call came, we headed our own ways - 3 of us back to the same area - and then I basically just laid out all the shit i was goign to throw out, and just gave it to them, including 1 bottle of red wine and 1 bottle of champagne - both of which were quite nice. We chatted some more for maybe 45 mins, and we went on our way, Them to sleep, me to final packing stuff. Went to the plodge and ordered a cab for the morning, leaving at 8am for the train station so I have about 5 hours to go. It's going to be a roughly 20 hour trip back home.
Despite my course being wank, I've enjoyed my stay here and the people I've had the pleasure of meeting, some of whom I think I will be friends with for a long time to come. Jamie hates this country, but I guess I was fortunate enough to be sheltered from many of its negative aspects.
What can I say, unis tend to be a protective bubble type atmosphere.

What I can tell about you from this photo:
-You might be from a well off family, seeing as you attended Princeton and Cambridge but you don't work do you? You might've a scolarship but life in the U.K is particularly expensive. -You enjoy sports (from the frisbee, adidas shoes and pants) particularly sports that involve a lot of people. I've always seen you mention the rowing team. -You seem to pack the necessary, but you seem to be carrying 4 bags. -Do you procrastinate a lot? From what I've seen you're always posting about how you're supposed to be doing xx but are not -Highly social drinker, but not a drunk. -IBM computer :o
