Pretty sure SR MoM Trickster (with or without RF) is still great in terms of easy to start but scales to melt endgame bosses. Level as elemental trapper until you get enough cast speed that SR feels good.
I'm really enjoying a volatile dead build (alternate castings of spell cascade desecrate and spell cascade volatile dead), with SR-CwC-Cremation for single target. Don't know how it'll scale in endgame yet though.
Sunder is still good. A lot of the new Shaper/Elder items look insane as Sunder offhands. Possibly good enough that you could socket your Sunder in one of them and wear a Kaom's without it feeling bad.
There's always GC mines or Frostbolt totems.

Doing that right now. Waiting until I finish A10 before I start investing in good gear, but VD+Desecrate is my go to atm. Bosses are still rough lol

Went with Glacial cascade inq totems + a brightbeak. Possibly the fastest levelling I've ever done, and I did elementalist brightbeak flameblast totems.
For reference, gc totems is imo way faster then gc mines both in map clearing, and bosses that don't get 1 hit.

Projectiles shotgun on large hitboxes, and the fountains have a base duration of 8s, meaning they effectively act like totems where you can pop three of them and then focus on dodging/casting volatile dead for a while.
I haven't tested super hard yet, though, so DD could be better.

Ed trickster is absolutely painful vs bosses, and nothings really changed. Occultist can do bosses, as can scion, but Ed really is a drag when the health gets high enough.
|
I personally didn't mind actually having to treat the boss fights like actual boss fights with scion ED.
Was able to do shaper pretty consistently by the end and map clearing is a super breeze. I'd much rather have a build that's a little less efficient in one area but that can clear everything. (except uber, f her)

Scion ed is significantly better at bossing then trickster ed.

Leveling was very smooth, but doing breaches was absolutely miserable (since the totems auto-acquire targets and fire in a cone, they would often just miss a lot of enemies getting swarmed from all sides). Do the totems have the same problem with Abysses, or does the new threshold jewel give them enough coverage?

Gonna try out cascade with it too

Ok so what is the trick to unlocking your atlas in a way that will give me less garbage map drops and more desired map drops? I tried reading guides but I'm still unsure about what to do exactly.

Note: None of this might be actually viable anymore with Atlas of Worlds, I don't think there's a clear pattern in what people shape/don't shape and unlock/don't unlock yet.
Simplified those strats were based around the fact that a map you're running can both drop maps that you have unlocked (as long as they're in droprange for a mob you're killing, e.g. blues can drop +1s and so on) but also maps that they're connected to on the Atlas. Shaped maps are not connected to other maps, meaning they can only drop maps that you have unlocked.
What this means is that if you set up your Atlas so that you have only one shaped map for a certain tier then only this map can drop if it rolls within that tier and when you run this map it will only be able to drop other shaped maps (or lower maps you have unlocked). You're basically eliminating the "garbage" drops from connected maps this way.
That's why you'd set up your Atlas by e.g. unlocking all T10 and below (for quantity bonus) and then having one shaped T11 with no others in that tier unlocked. If you then e.g. only have one shaped T12/T13 unlocked then you can do the same thing with those.

Man even as a gladiator with capped res, going from A10 to mapping is still a kick in the teeth as far as incoming damage. My life is pretty low because I was just saving pieces with solid resists for the -60% penalty, but man, I'll have to start shopping for +life stuff asap probably. Or desperately try and squeeze my merc lab in for the 3rd ascendacy boost (taking the spell block one) which might help a bit. I failed on 3rd phase Izaro twice and called it a night lol.
That all being said, Molten Strike + Ancestral Call is probably the most fun I've had with a build so far, and leveling was a fucking breeze. Died once due to distraction in like a1-2, never after that. Balls everywhere.

I didn't find any map truely garbage so far, but I'm only up to T7. Might also be because I'm not using Shield Charge (yet). Imo they did a decent job at map balancing, the bad layouts are full of monsters and bigger (I actually enjoyed the new Mine map because of that). Maps like Iceberg are awesome in their layout, but very small. I think Fields might be the best map I've played so far, it's similar to Shore and has a decent size.
