stupid thing but i think playing with visually bigger circles makes me perform better on low CS, a bit easier to read and less miss anxiety?
I think you're talking about that the circle surface on screen at default is only a part of the hitbox? So you can adjust that so that it shows the entire hitbox. How do you fix that again? I totally forgot.
In my experience, smaller circles are easier to read. It's not easily compared though, so I might be imagining things. As an example, in the past I have edited some easy maps to ar9 and cs7. Playing that with DT felt like it was ar10. My performance was obviously worse, due to my aim not being good enough. But the reading part was easier than I expected.
On miss anxiety, I haven't really thought about that at all. Thinking about it, there is maybe something that could qualify for this. I have traditionally had some trouble getting my left hand going in higher AR situations. For example, I can't stream 190bpm at ar10.5, or even do triplets accurately/consistently. Although I always attributed that to a speed issue (based on earlier experience), it might as well be solvable via increased readability.

You just make the hit circle image fill the whole picture instead of a smaller part of it - i've noticed a lot of skins having a wide range of hit circle sizes.
It's easier to read some stuff with smaller circle sizes, especially as the stacking and such is tuned around the circles being smaller than the hit area like in the default skin

Easy to misattribute that stuff, i've felt the same as well. On AR's that are higher or lower than comfortable levels it can help to focus on what you can hear and matching the keyboard hand up to that rather than anything else

Yeah, that's very similar to the approach I generally have, regardless of AR, except that I do read the patterns first before making the connection. That helps for ghost notes and irregular patterns (which are mainly present in older maps). It is indeed quite slow though. I guess I'll just have to read faster I suspect playing mania has already helped quite a bit, as everything already seems much slower than it used to a few months ago.
Hm, not really. There are a few things I can imagine, but this so far away from my ballpark, that it's hard to say anything conclusive.
I can imagine -5, because timing in standard is arbitrary up to a certain point (due to different parts/instruments of a song playing in front of or behind the beat), and playing in front of the beat is easier than the other way around. However, -20ms is already too large for this.
I can kindof understand a large positive offset, so you can better anticipate rythm because you hear the music earlier. For me this would be totally unplayable, though.
He could have some mixing hardware where his headphone sound goes through (as opposed to his twitch sound). I can't really estimate how much ms of a difference that would make. That would depend on this setup.
The last thing I can think of is a bit of a stretch. He's a 'robotic' player. Apart from some bpm indication, the music does not have much of a function. All that matters are the appearing circles. So the offset does not actually 'mean' anything. The reason you still want the offset, is optimizing feedback. The hitsounds aren't dilluted by the beats.
This is obviously all speculation, but it's all I could think of.
PS I might have switched signs and am too lazy to check.
Positive global offset and negative local offset act the same even though they're named oppositely so i'm always confused as to which does what for timing
I actually find it easier to play behind the beat if I'm intentionally playing off beat (o2 converts also tend to be late more often than early so that helps there... but only if the timing offset is fairly consistent and small)
Improved my in2k6 lunatic score by almost 90k, which is an extreme improvement. But that left me 2pp below 7k and I simply couldn't let that stand, so I played Amphisbaena and hit 7010pp after improving that score.
Rly want to map this at ~1.2x speed but it wouldn't be even really playable without learning and lots of time first. Worth? I'l at least play with it a little
There's a map right now which is pretty decent but very easy (101pp SS). The HR and DT mods were both not fun IMO. They have quite a few timing points with 6 different BPM's in the song (e.g. shortly after 0:14 they put a 1.5x in to follow the 1/6'ths instead of 1/4'ths through 0:30)
I'd like something that is exciting nomod so that probably means rough difficulty range of at least 200pp, maybe a lot more
Second one is more recently ranked. Pretty tricky, but I guess I was actually playing well. Didnt feel like it though. I noticed every mistake and felt like I was playing like ass. Usually when I'm playing well i feel it and it feels like I'm actually hitting shit I normally don't.
I'm still utterly confused about how on earth I improved my in2k6 score that much. I expected to score within maybe + or - 10k or 15k at the most. I half expected to fail, because the spam patterns in that are pure fucking cancer.

(Also my Weaponized mapset is nearly qualified, just need Doormat to recheck the map and bubble.)
Nomod 99%; that's cool and all but Cookie did HRHD nearly FC at the start of the year. Maybe it will be poking the sleeping dragon to go back and FC? :D
