Hello Everyone,
This is the official thread for the Grand Finals Match of the Coach-Pupil League. If you're unfamiliar with the CPL you can find out more information here.
Drag 'n Herb and Team Assimilate have battled their way through league play, and in the case of Team Assimilate - survived the playoffs - to make it here to the Grand Finals. Drag 'n Herb stand as the favourites going into the match having finished first in the league and booking their ticket here weeks ago, while Team Assimilate had to come out on top of the rest of the teams during playoffs. This promises to be a great match, as the 2 teams have both previously beaten the other during league play. Can Team Assimilate win one more playoff series and take out the favourites? Or will Drag 'n Herb continue with their strong play all season long and come out on top? Tune in on Sunday July 30th to find out!
All games will be played at or before Sunday, Jul 30 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). After the games are played, and replays submitted, the games will be cast where the results along with a special announcement will be revealed!

Both teams are fielding five core players, two of which will be returning as ace players for the final two matches and all the marbles! Every player in these line-ups has proven themselves to be an asset to the success of their respective crew, and we will be seeing many amazing match-ups for the first time! Be sure to tune in this Sunday to see who will walk away with the gold. Also, tune in for a small, fun surprise immediately after the finals... No spoilers  GET HYPE! Hype, although I do not understand the format with 2 ace matches?
There are 5 regular matches, which means there would be an uneven score anyway, unless Drag & Herb has a 1up for being first in the league?
In this case, is ace match just an expression for letting players have repeat showings?

Essentially yes to your last question. A better way to think of it would be just a "Best-of-7 series" where 2 players play twice. Originally we had planned to have 6 different players 1v1, with an ACE match as the 7th on FS (to play all maps once) but since the teams really couldn't field 6 active players, we made it 2 ACE matches to still complete the best of 7/allowing 2 players to play twice. The "ACE" is just to separate/differentiate the 2 players that are playing twice from each team. At the end of the day, all 7 games will be cast, even if it's 7-0 for one team, or a solid 4-3.

These are really good matchups from what I know. In theory almost every game has a decent chance to go either way.

I have to agree! There are a couple of matches I'm particularly souped for, but overall this promises to be a great series  I'm hyped to be casting this.

I've been looking forward to these finals all week more than the GG Together Event. I'm definitely rooting for Team Assimilate, the underdogs.
