Liquid News - NationWars IV Finals
Olli Lichter: “Welcome to Liquid News with Olli Lichter. We have BREAKING NEWS for all our viewers: Reports are coming in of an inbound battle in the French capital Paris, where four invading forces are likely to meet this weekend.
To dive deeper into the situation, we have with us leading experts on the matter: Professor Mize Haven, professor of geography and history at the Blizzard Institute, military strategist Hex Hauer, who is live in the studio, and our correspondent Munch Spiral in Paris, where the decisive battle looks to be taking place.
Professor Haven, I would like to start with you. Please fill us in on the beginning and context of this situation.”
Mize Haven: “Well, Olli, where to begin? Last year the dispute about which country has the best StarCraft 2 players escalated very quickly and spun out of control, and many nations were destroyed even before they were really able to prepare for war. It was a bloodbath, Olli, but it seems like a final confrontation is just ahead, with all four remaining forces now closing in on Paris.”
Olli Lichter: “Which nations are still capable of victory, and how did they get to Paris?"
Mize Haven: “As you just mentioned, four nations are still strong enough to march to Paris. From the north east the troops from Poland are closing in—.”
Olli Lichter: “—Can you show our American viewers where Poland is exactly on this map, Professor?”
Mize Haven: “Eh, sure. It’s here in the east of Germany, and they made their way to France via the Netherlands... here. Nerchio defeated all the Dutch forces in a one-sided battle, which was a bit of a surprise, because a previous German attack was easily deflected by the Dutch uThermal.”
Olli Lichter: “Will Poland be able to enter Paris unobstructed?”
Mize Haven: “Not exactly, Olli. Our projections tell us that they are about to meet the Canadian forces outside the gates of Paris. The Canadians battled the United States in the Atlantic and sunk their ships. Even the flagship USS Neeb was lost. After that, Canadian forces landed in the Normandy and started their advance towards Paris.”
Olli Lichter: “I want to bring in strategy expert Hex Hauer now. Hex, how will this battle play out?”
Hex Hauer: “As you’ve just heard, Olli, Nerchio is an excellent asset for Poland, as most battles in this war have been decided by a single skilled commander so far. We have no reason to suspect that this is going to change in the final stages of this war. Nerchio has so far won three quarters of his pitched battles and is likely to be on high morale after his dominating showing against the Dutch.
The Poles have built up a deadly army, Olli. Nerchio is being backed up by the veteran commander MaNa, who is very accomplished and has many tricks up his sleeve. And then there is Elazer, who is known for being very unpredictable and having defeated many enemies considered to be his superior. The Poles do lack a Terran force, but they easily make up for this strategical deficit with the quality of their other troops.
Now, we had some doubts about whether the Canadians would be able to keep up, but a few reports, which have been coming in, make us believe in their capabilities to defeat Poland. Their greatest asset, Scarlett, has last been seen on the course towards South Korea, so many thought she wouldn’t be able to lead the Canadians in the battle of Paris, which would have most likely crippled Canada’s ambitions. A few last minute reports suggest, however, that Scarlett will indeed be leading Canada, with her commitment in Korea postponed.
The Canadians also have an excellent propaganda apparatus lead by Minister NoRegreT, who has won over many hearts. Junior Commander Semper has shown some impressive tactics over the course of this war, and Minister NoRegreT proved his worth in the North American duel, but it is hard to believe that their power alone would be enough to defeat such a battle hardened nation as Poland. Had Scarlett not resurfaced just in time to assume her command, Canada would have fallen prey to the Polish army with ease. Now though, the Great White North has a very real fighting chance. I would still rate Poland as a slight favorite to emerge victorious, but this war has shown that a single commander can often make the difference between triumph and despair—it will be on Scarlett to carry the Canadians to victory.
Olli Lichter: “Thank you, Hex. We will be right back with you after a short commercial break. Stay with us here on Liquid News, as we go live to front-line with our correspondent next!”

Olli Lichter: “Welcome back to Liquid News with Olli Lichter and all our experts. We are now reporting live about the incoming battle of Paris and the conclusion of the fourth Nation Wars. We have already heard about Canada and Poland meeting for battle in the north of the city, but what about the other front? Professor Haven?”
Mize Haven: “Well, it shouldn’t surprise you that Germany has invaded France directly from the east, after trying the usual shortcut through the low lands and being repelled. Interestingly enough, a Mexican Special Force had already defeated the French army, so that the Germans met not their French counterparts, but the Mexicans, whom they soundly defeated.
But on their way to the city of Paris, they’ll meet a dangerous foe in the South Korean army. The Koreans first tried to make their way to Europa via Canada, but were beaten back, so they had their forces flown in. Word on the street is that Norway tried intercepting the Koreans, but were soundly defeated by Zest. After that, the Koreans continued on and reached France.
Olli Lichter: “Liquid News strategy analyst Hex Hauer, which of these forces is likely to prevail?”
Hex Hauer: “As always, Olli, the Korean forces are going to be very hard to overcome. Their strategical mastermind is called sOs, a devious opponent with many trump cards up his sleeve and a gift for psychological warfare. Some experts are of the opinion that his tactical finesse is the most advanced on the planet.
Leading the Korean army is a man called INnoVation—rumored to be more machine than man. His relentlessness, cold bloodiness and ever high supply of troops are a dangerous package and have already led to great victories in the past. And then there's Zest, one of the most decorated generals left in the world. The Germans should fear such a mighty force, and it may need a small miracle for them to succeed further.
Leading the German forces is ShoWTimE, Germany’s most accomplished veteran, who has connections in France, which might be valuable in garnering the support of the French populace. ShoWTimE has shown in the past that he has the tactical and strategical know-how necessary to defeat Korean leaders such as ByuN, who surprisingly will not be participating in the fight.
Another useful asset of the Germans is a man often called ‘Wunderwünsch’, more popularly known as TLO. He’s a veteran of several great wars and even has experience as a mercenary in Korea, making him an unpredictable foe and excellent planner. Supporting them is a junior commander, HeRoMaRinE, who recently had a very successful operation in Taiwan and is well respected inside Germany. This will be a great test for his abilities and might be a chance for him to establish his name in international circles even more.
Even though the Germans have assembled a skilled force, it will be a tough battle against the Koreans who are determined to purge the shame of their loss in the last grand battle of Paris—and they’re on track to do so.”
Olli Lichter: “Thank you, Hex. As a reminder to all our viewers, you can follow the battle live on oGaming, who are at the scene with a competent team of observers and commentators. Let’s go live to Paris to our frontline correspondent Munch Spiral. Are you there, Munch?”
Munch Spiral: “Indeed, Olli. As you can see behind me, Paris is still peaceful, but all four armies are closing in and the climactic battle of this war is drawing closer with every minute. I talked to some French citizens earlier, and they aren’t very worried about getting caught in the crossfire. Indeed, one doctor Aeromi told us that he’s looking forward to seeing some people cry after the battle—as long as everything is scheduled properly. He also called the Secretary General of the United Battle.net for the release of a strict rule book for worldwide conflicts. Paris seems to be ready, Olli, I hope our viewers are as well.”
Olli Lichter: “Thank you, Munch, we really appreciate your live report there. Professor Haven and Hex Hauer, thank you for your time. After all that we’ve heard, Korea looks to be the favorite to conquer Paris, whereas Poland might be the nation to charge in and rescue the foreign countries from their threat.
Thank you for following our coverage tonight. Everyone at Liquid News wishes you a peaceful evening before this weekend's happenings.”
