Regardless of the situation, we will still action upon "dead game" comments. As this is a sensitive issue for SC2 fans, please do not come into this thread and talk about SC2 players switching over to BW. This thread is also not about bashing Blizzard, David Kim, or the WCS system. |

My comment 6 months ago "We already saw that foreigners don't actually get more viewers than Koreans, so you can't blame Koreans anymore and in fact numbers are just getting lower. So i don't see the point of keep locking Korean players. This system should be changed/modified ASAP, it's just hurting the Korean players which will make more players retire, and hurting the scene making people lose interests."
This is the worst year for SC2 and the way Blizzard handled it makes me really sad and angry .After making LOTV and increasing the prize pool on sc2 yet they still failed as we predicted with this type of system they came up with. 2015 was even better year for SC2 than this year and numbers proves it Blizzard should have supported the Korean scene for the health of the game not the opposite by locking it and make players lose interest in the game, which would lead to more people lose interest as well. I lost interest in this game as well and stopped watching tournaments.

Sorry for being born later than you. Sorry I couldn't enjoy SC when it was released as I was just over 1 year old.

No need to point that out, I wish I had the opportunity to experience everything live myself, instead of having to catch up with basically 12 years of professional StarCraft. Luckily, though, certain progamers have made me realise it doesn't matter if you were there at the beginning; ulitmately it's not up to us when or where we're born. All that matters if you intend to be there till the end. (yours or otherwise :p )

Oh no I wasn't remarking on the validity of your or anyone elses opinion based on age. I was remarking at how fucking old I am now.

All the doomsayers did so only for their own benefit - to sound smart or just to be assholes. Yes, every single one of us did so only for our own benefit. Not because we don't want to see a game and franchise and scene we love go down the fucking drain after following it for over a decade. No sir-ee, everyone did it just to sound smart. OR HOW ABOUT THIS Maybe instead of plugging your ears and circlejerking about how it's fine and on the up and up because Apollo said so even though very clearly numbers and retirements prove otherwise, maybe, just maybe, you should have fucking listened and helped pressure Blizzard to fucking do something right for once in 6 fucking years. Jesus fucking christ. It's Sunday afternoon and this somehow manages to be the dumbest post I've read all week. Like literally you deserve to be banned for saying something this objectively incorrect and almost maliciously stupid. The scene only started declining when Blizz actually started implementing what the community asked for. So its really the community's fault. How can you put on "the community" the fault of the decisions of game design of the developer? it's up to the developer to properly interpret and sort feedback and to come forward with an overall vision for the game. Hasn't there been a demagogic method with simplistic "balanced numbers" goals and "race vs race" that only helped create an inconsistent game with people fighting each other over details? I'm Hasn't there been a lot of ignoring detailed feedback pointing out major issues in the game for a long time? Well first they did nothing. And the community got mad because they were out of touch. So they did something, then the community got mad because they were meddling. So they went hands off, then the community got mad because balance. So they jumped back in. Then the community got mad that they were coddling casuals. The conclusion from watching years of data suggests that the community has absolutely zero knowledge of what a good game is and should not be listened to at all for any advice when it comes to making a good game. Blizzard would have been better off patching for 2-3 months after release and just letting the community fix itself instead of the community only wanting fixes from ladder patches. The game is dead in Korea because the community complained that too many koreans competed in the US and EU. Kespa is dead because of community influence. The korean scene is hurting because of community influence. The community is what is hurting everything about this game. "The community" is not one voice, everybody doesn't make bad suggestions, and it's up to the developer to properly sort it out and not make bad decisions and build things coherently.. I think they went for a demagogic approach.
100% agree. What is becoming of the video game industry when the consumer looks at a failed product/implementation and the first thing that comes to mind is to essentially shoulder the blame themselves? That's absolutely ridiculous and absurd. Must be good to be Blizzard to have people defend them so fervently.
You're right. They have the experience and vision to be able to make the right call. Heck, if anything one of my main issues with Blizzard these days is that they are still out of touch with the community and refuse to recognise any good feedback.
TL is a treasure trove of informed posts and articles discussing how to best improve the game. Sure, I've been watching from the sidelines, but that doesn't mean I'm not aware of the fact that Blizzard is very lucky to have a community like that of TL to carry their game on its back. So much effort for naught!

Ah, I understood that you wanted matches from other tournaments played by players from KeSPA teams. I'm not sure about that, maybe something similar happened when they transitioned from SC1 to SC2? Can't remember. But I also think it would be a much bigger event if it was related to Brood War Proleague era

For 10 years for better or worse, SPL was my main connection to SC. For the past two weeks there were countless occasions where I relived a fond memory. It will last. RIP.

So the side bar shows the goodbye proleague event right now. Anyone know if it's still going and if so if there is a stream?
