SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS
Ok seriously you have been warned, this is going to be a brief review and critique on the Legacy of the Void campaign.
Where to begin? The end to the cliffhanger Zeratul and Duran left us on the Dark Moon!
Honestly, given what we have (Wings and HotS) I am fairly pleased with how the campaign turned out. Ironically many of the pros and cons of this game mirror the previous games. The introduction of the new awesome character (Tychus, Abathur, Alarak) as well as a character previously thought dead (Tassadar [but not really] Stukov!, Fenix). Despite this additions, Blizzard fucked up. First of all, to answer the question I posed in my 5k blog, the Legacy of Zeratul is nonexistent, mission 1 he is called a traitor, mission 2 + Show Spoiler +. It's such a lame, cliche animesque death too, it doesnt really fit. It turns out that surprisingly, the last level is not killing amon, but rather freeing Selendis, and the rest of the Golden Armada from Amon's control.
It just seemed a little empty. Blizzard attempt to fix this with the "epilogue" a 3 mission set (starting with Protoss attack a large map full of void creatures, Terran in The Dig part 2, and Zerg in a pretty lackluster finale). Kerrigan's transformation just looked incredibly stupid, and strangely, the whole of the epilogue feels out of place despite the fact that it is the only thing that provides closure.
Overall, this is probably the best story in the SC2 trilogy, but the majority of the levels feel like carbon copies of previous levels (the a move first level, the hold out on shakuras, the hold out in the epilogue, the hold out on Aiur, the mothership beam race, Rak'shir, etc). Wings is still the most difficult of the three, but I think this game is more difficult than HotS, that game was just a snoozefest.
I don't know if we will ever get a story like SC1, but I guess, everything considered, this is the best we could hope for...
Pros- -The Pheonixs chasing those mutas on the first mission, (the nostalgia!) -Alarac is a pretty darn fun character -Solar Core is a hell of a lot of fun!' -The soundtrack is SO DAMN GOOD OMG -" I'm here to say goodnight you son of a bitch" :D -good resolution to tassadar -great way to bring back fenix, we aren't wowtards, so I am happy they didn't pull an Illidan on us -the tiny hint for a possible SC3 story?
Cons -so much repetitive level objectives -the epilogue cinematic, goes against everything that made BW campaign good -the angelic kerrigan, the fuck -Xel'naga=Cthulu -Where the hell is Niadra?!
I will say as far as the entirety of SC2 story is concerned, thank you Blizzard for Tosh, Tychus, Stukov, Abathur and Alarac, all of whom are excellent characters worthy of SC1's legacy...and then you made crap Rohana, Zagara, and Hanson...
Okay but seriously, this fucking soundtrack cannot be overstated

Alarak is awesome. He's ruthless but so witty that he comes across as debonair. He's my favourite character in the protoss campaign.

Totally agree.
My 5 cents: I really miss Urun and Mohandar, Urun mostly. He was a real badass in "Utter Darkness", almost Fenix level of badass. I guess there wasn't enough time / missions to introduce them in LotV campaign.

Alarak is how Artanis would be if he was an asshole.

Blizzard released a series of short stories prior to LotV's release.

That's the one you were looking for. It also introduces Vorazun.
Story #1 introduces Alarak and Ma'lash, and Story #5 introduces Rohana.

Yeah, they overdid it. The whole Kerrigan goes Xel'Naga idea would have been great, but angel wings? Seriously? I still really enjoyed the LotV campaign, even though the missions were pretty repetitive.
