First off, apologies for missing last week! It was a busy week for most of us in the writing staff, but we're back now and ready for BlizzCon :D! Here to bring you the news and funnies so you can keep up with the scene, we present yet another Weekly Roundup for Heroes of the Storm:
News
- The Hallow’s End Event is upon us. During the event, you will be able to obtain a Jack-O'-Lantern Portrait by winning 25 matches before November 17. Even better, starting October 27 until November 3, you will receive 50% extra experience in all the regions.
- The groups for the Heroes of the Storm World Championship have been announced!
Group A: Cloud9 from North America, Team YL from China, Dignitas from Europe, and Logi GIA from Taiwan.
Group B: Team DK from Korea, Natus Vincere (Na’vi) from Europe, Brave Heart from China, and Tempo Storm from North America. - Liquipedia has announced a new bracket contest during BlizzCon for Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft 2, and Hearthstone World Championships. You just need to make predictions of one or more of the tournaments and score points if they turn out to be correct. There are a ton of different prizes for the three contests, so be sure to check it out.
- Last week a new Heroes of the Storm patch was released. The patch brought a couple of bug fixes, a buff to the Medic's health, and activated Artanis for those who had pre-purchased the StarCraft 2 expansion, Legacy of the Void. Artanis will be enabled to the rest of the player base this week on October 27 in America and October 28 in Europe.
- Not every street is paved with gold though. China's Gold Heroes League is banning all Korean players from participating in their upcoming season, meaning that strong teams like Team Snake can no longer participate in it. Following the league’s announcement, Team Snake informed that it would stop sponsoring their Heroes of the Storm team, as they no longer were able to bring exposure to the brand in China. The team has announced that they will continue to play under their former name, Team AsD, and have begun a new search for sponsors.
Tournaments
- The World Cyber Arena Open Qualifier for Europe took place this week. Strong teams like Virtus.pro and Fnatic battled it out, but in the end it was Gamers2 who took the crown and qualified for the WCA main event.
- Even though the qualifiers are over for Europe, there is still one qualifier for the SEA region. It will be played between November 1 and November 14.
- The Heroes of the Storm World Championship will begin this Wednesday, October 28. Make sure to visit our Live Report thread, where you’ll find all the info you need and an opportunity to share your enjoyment of the matches.
