AMAZING Starter/Basics guide http://forums.absurdminds.net/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=2198 (Alot of technical stuff at the beginning, much further down he details everything you need to know about CS. READ THIS.) Novices guide http://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/1s6pmc/for_all_the_new_players_csgo_beginners_guide/ (Great tips and tricks) How to be good at CS:GO at all levels: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=121447468# (Awesome little guide) Map overviews, Nades & More. http://operationl2p.com/ (Amazing resource for nade throws, has other things like map overviews and guides.) Gun recoil patterns http://twowordbird.com/articles/csgo-recoil-mechanics/ (You will want to look at this to understand exactly how gun recoil works in CS:GO, the bullets do not go where your cursor is placed.) How to fire at range http://i.imgur.com/SsZuUQa.jpg (Just general guidelines. The "line" is A-long on Dust 2 from back-barrels on A site to Pit at the other end, if you wanted to compare in-game distances.) adreN_TV http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCauWzM4ElgQCuwymc3sV42g/videos (Full of amazing informational videos from smokes to rushes to movement.)

I know that there are tons of videos online concerning smokes on de_mirage, but Id like to throw this out there; which ones are the most paramount in order to successfully conquer A as T on this map? I ask because I feel that many times my friends and I will lose rounds when we attempt to claim A, due to a poor balance between maybe trying to execute too many smokes and wasting precious time in standing around aiming like fools, and actually advancing out from Slope/Palace with resolve. When rushing out without any smokes, good teams will mow us down like a lawn; attempting too many smokes and we perish anyway. So which ones should mid-level groups such as my own focus on? (in b4 l2p...) Edit: Moved to separate topic.

Traditionally, people advice to get nades and a Galil instead because losing the AK and giving it to CTs is risky. However, recently I've noticed quite a number of pros (adreN for one) actually go for head armor and AK second round anyways (even without nades). So what's the deal? What do you do and for what reason? Are there pros/cons that I'm overseeing? Thanks!

I only get a tech9 (seriously, just try using it the first 3 rounds, it's insane). in an actual match, i'd rather have full nades first before getting an ak so if i can't afford an ak, at least I have galil + nades but empty AK buys does still work quite well if you are working together with a team such that at least the team has access to nades for executions. which of course is why I wouldnt do this in pugging cause the teamwork isn't there.

Head Armor and AK both are quite a lot of investment in the 2nd round and if you lose it then you are broke and have gifted the enemy team a rifle. The only time it's worthwhile is when you're either holding something like long on D2 or you're the entry fragger and your teammates are right behind you to pickup your weapon in case you die. Adren has a proper team with a lot of teamwork and coordinated smokes etc that they can pull off something like a 2nd round head armor + AK buy which you're not likely to find in MM.Even then I call it too risky since a dropped AK can completely swing the tide when holding any site.

In pro games you see a looot of eco wins, maybe these ak buy are to test a solution.

Makes sense that a second round AK head armor buy makes more sense at high level or in a coordinated team. On this topic, isn't it usually a very desireable option to get weapons that excel against low-armor targets - such as the Bizon - when you know the other team most likely are 100% eco? After, say, a 1st round win.

After, say, a 1st round win. Every competent player will p250 armor after a lost pistol round since you can still afford full gear by 4th round. Blame VeryGames for making this work. Long answer: bizon is terrible against armor and if the losing team is going to buy armor 2nd round, then you basically are at a disadvantage. This is also why pros will do the 2nd round AK + helmet buy as it gives them a way to deal with this 2nd round armor strat (it's an evolved meta game over the course of CSGO's lifetime). So, 2nd round buy at least sometime that is good against armor or if you lost the round, buy armor and a pistol and capitalize on the enemy team's mistakes for buying bizons

even versus ecos, grenades are extremely important as soon as you've climbed the ranks a bit don't sacrifice your grenades for a slightly better gun!

The point of it is so you won't get 1 shot by the other team's starting pistols because they have to save (all dem usp/p2k 1 taps). If you're afraid of losing your gun, then you can stick with an SMG and it won't be as bad to lose it compared to a rifle. Choice of SMG/Rifle is up to your preference, but head armour is must. If the other team didn't force buy pistol armour for second round, SMGs just tear through unarmoured opponents and have the nice kill reward (except p90) to boost your economy even further.

I even buy body armor first round every single time. At Gold Nova level, players aren't THAT good at insta-headshots with pistols so it pays off more often that not I feel.
