No other korean team (apart from ST perhaps) did take part in so many foreign tournaments, so it's not that unlikely, besides that a miracle would have to happen for IM being solvent. Almost an incredible miracle

Going for foreign tournaments most likely will be less money than getting a salary at SKT at $8284 a month (almost 100k per anum). Taeja only earns 38k of tournament prize so far this year, and he's regarded as the most achieved sc2 player in foreign scene this year, granted he never wins WCS NA. If you think about it with the low prize pool for most foreign tournaments these days (10k or so for 1st prize) - not counting blizzcon of course, it's really hard to match his guaranteed salary at SKT. So it make sense if he said he's going for the passion.

He probably has significant financial expectations and not much results in SC2. So weird for SKT to depend mostly on zergs (Soulkey, soO and Classic are remaining core players). There team as it currently stands really doesn't look that strong compared to Samsung, CJ, KT.

I doubt taeja getting anywhere near Parting at SKT. From what i pick from words around (eg from 1 of ChanmanV show), Incontrol was there and they were talking about which team could pick Dear up, when he was teamless. It seems the possible salary was suggested at around 2k/month max or less than that. Even at that rate, no foreign team want to snap Dear. Maybe Taeja gets more than that, however not much more i don't think. Foreign team budget is no where near SK Telecom giant budget.
