PartinG interview via DailyEsports regarding his departure from SK Telecom T1
Q: How did you come to leave SK Telecom T1?
A: I really missed foreign tournaments. To compete in them I thought it would be better to join a foreign team instead of a Korean team. MC talked about KeSPA teams and foreign tournaments in a previous interview, and I really agreed with what he had to say.
Honestly I had planned to only stay on SKT for 2013 and then move to a foreign team. However, I felt that I didn't produce any results to show Korean fans, so I stayed on for one more year. Recently, I've felt that money isn't everything. I miss the passion from the foreign fans who used to cheer for me.
Q: Have any foreign teams given you offers?
A: The story broke just now, but I've already received an offer. I think things will be determined around next month.
Q: There will be a region lock in WCS starting next year. Do you think going to a foreign team will go smoothly?
A: Honestly the region doesn't matter. What's important to me is tournaments like DreamHack, HomeStory Cup etc. When I played in foreign tournaments in 2012, I played with "fighting" and I miss the passion from the fans.
In a way, I was raised in the 'wild' so it was hard to adjust to the SK Telecom zoo. The team was really good to me, but it was hard to fix the habits ingrained in me.
Q: Anything to say to the fans?
A: The reason I'm leaving the team is to enjoy the game. In the past, money was important, but now I've come to know that money isn't everything. I want to go back. Over the course of a year, SK Telecom was really good to me. I give them thanks, and I want to tell the fans and the people at SKT that I'm sorry.

I'm guessing AcerPartinG.
|
This makes sense, respect and hope he does well in Dreamhack, HSC etc (something tells me he will)
|
PartinG such free spirit.
|
If Parting is talking HSC, he must assume he'll be getting an invite. If he's getting an invite, that means the team in question is most likely European. I don't think he's gonna go to the GEM house, but it's cool, and unsurprising, to see he's already found somewhere new.

I'm actually going to guess Evil Geniuses.
Parting perfectly fits the kind of bill that EG likes in their players. He's got an attitude and he relishes the spotlight.
EG hasn't made any moves in SC2 for a long while and their sole champion Jaedong has been very underwhelming this year.
Time seems perfect if i'm them and Parting is the perfect player for them.

That is sick news. I can't wait to see who you sign with.

This was a nice interview.

If this means we'll see PartinG trash talk other players at foreign tournaments then I'm all for it.

mYi is my second bet, but something about this just screams Evil Geniuses.
They've been all but irrelevant this year thanks to Jaedong's slump and if they wanted to make a splash to make themselves known again (big IF i know) then there really isn't a better player than Parting.

That seems like a bad move to me, unless they're hurting for money (not unlikely sadly). I would be really disappointed if they didn't sign anyone.
edit: btw if that's true you should post it in the other thread because tons of people are speculating that

They already have a Protoss, she doesn't need a PvP partner. And AFAIK, Acer's not concerned with "well-rounded" lineups or things of that nature.

I think they'd be a little concerned about ATC, since Inno was a god in that (unless we're not getting another one)

Doesn't think about money, yet wants to participate in foreign tournaments he is "more likely to win"....hmm confused. Im guessing he must mean the guarantee of money, because in SKT he was no doubt paid very handsomely. But he must prefer the freedom he gets with being on a foreign team being able to do/say things he can.
Acer losing Innovation and picking PartinG up would be a good replacement for them, but i have a feeling Liquid might have something up their sleeves here...

Thanks for translating. I always knew PartinG is a fun guy but wasn't aware that he misses foreign stuff. (He needs to make Rain join one DreamHack or IEM too, he seems like interesting person as well :D)

I am pretty sure that EG won't make any more moves in the Sc 2 scene. Plus PartinG doesn't fit into EG at all.
mYiParting would be okay but I'm sure that they did not make an offer. LiquidParting, could very well come true. AcerParting, could also come true. MillParting, tbh that sounds cool.
These are, in my opionion, the most likely outcomes. But we'll see. Plus it's an interesting situtation since Rain is also free now.

I'd imagine a fair number of StarTale players can say that, given that Red Bull was (and I believe still is) a sponsor of the team.

Red Bull is a good suggestion. EG's not gonna sign any new SC2 players until LotV comes out, I think. Team Liquid has the reputation and the size to send PartinG to many international tournaments, so I think that's a possibility. Acer could, too, but I dunno what their roster situation's like. All the rest are probably too small (or too unlikely) for PartinG to jump to, I think.

Wonder where will they end up - although I don't see who would like to pick up Fantasy. He probably has significant financial expectations and not much results in SC2.
So weird for SKT to depend mostly on zergs (Soulkey, soO and Classic are remaining core players).

You're all wrong! It'll be IM_Parting :D No other korean team (apart from ST perhaps) did take part in so many foreign tournaments, so it's not that unlikely, besides that a miracle would have to happen for IM being solvent. Almost an incredible miracle

Going for foreign tournaments most likely will be less money than getting a salary at SKT at $8284 a month (almost 100k per anum). Taeja only earns 38k of tournament prize so far this year, and he's regarded as the most achieved sc2 player in foreign scene this year, granted he never wins WCS NA.
If you think about it with the low prize pool for most foreign tournaments these days (10k or so for 1st prize) - not counting blizzcon of course, it's really hard to match his guaranteed salary at SKT.
So it make sense if he said he's going for the passion.

Sad to see PartinG leave SKT, especially that also Rain and Fantasy are leaving, however if that means his gonna travel more, play in more tournaments and most of all - have fun, then I'm glad he's leaving gl & hf PartinG! Wish you the best, and find team quickly

I doubt taeja getting anywhere near Parting at SKT. From what i pick from words around (eg from 1 of ChanmanV show), Incontrol was there and they were talking about which team could pick Dear up, when he was teamless.
It seems the possible salary was suggested at around 2k/month max or less than that. Even at that rate, no foreign team want to snap Dear. Maybe Taeja gets more than that, however not much more i don't think. Foreign team budget is no where near SK Telecom giant budget.

Dang, how can you hate Parting after that interview?!? I would love to see Parting in more foreign stuff as well.
|
Recently, I've felt that money isn't everything. I miss the passion from the foreign fans who used to cheer for me.
Now that gets me curious as to how much SKT was offering him to re-sign if Korea was where the money was.
Good luck to Parting and thanks for the interview.

His salary in skt is seventy thousand dollars a year and plus some incentives

I don't know what to think about 70k-100k salaries: it is a huge prize you get for playing a game, but when you consider its a 12 hours a day job, and that only the top players get that much money, it seems pretty low again.

If Orly is right, then the sound you just heard was Breaker passing out.

Mad props to Parting. With these world-class players on the market, prices are gonna drop like crazy.

I just hope PartinG lives in Korea and continues to play in GSL. And if he can start going to more tournaments I hope to see him at bliz-con again! Need Flash vs Parting also C:

Is Parting even that popular among foreign fans? I'm sure he'll enjoy the greater freedom, travelling and so on that a foreign team will provide but it does seem like a bit of an odd motivation since our fanbase really isn't that big is it? Except maybe in europe! Dreamhack + any french tourney best tourney.

He was really popular before he grabbed that Kespa money. And I think he still has alot of fans and will be popular among the masses quiet fast again. His personality is attractive for fans.

I wonder if there are favoritism from the management when selecting players to be sent for foreign tournaments. That can be frustrating if you are not the favored one.

It definitely is. At the top, the winners can compete with the top of other regions. But the others? What NA pros can compete with even an average EU RO16 regular? Maybe only Scarlett, Major?

when Wolf called NA the weakest region, he was talking bout ji Sung Bmber getting his wins there
so that includes the koreans oof NA
compare the top 8/16 of WCS EU vs WCS NA,
there are more simply more koreans and arguably better koreans in WCS NA (Taeja, Polt, Ji Sung etc) than WCS EU dont u think?

catz, kane, taeja, polt they all comprise WCS NA do they not...?
so when Parting losing some games to WCS NA players, yea i would say dont underestimate NA
btw parting might be playing just for fun, but whose to say Catz and Kane arent doing the same? Catz is streaming too maybe hes hiding builds too and just playing for fun for the viewers? in any case i figured Parting would be so good that he would not drop multiple games to the same players
and Wolf said WCS NA is easiest region where Ji Sung farmed his wins, so that includes the competing WCS NA (foreigners+koreans alike) players right?
do u believe WCS EU top 8/16 is more competitive than WCS NA top 8/16?

i have thoroughly enjoyed the stream thus far, and i hope this continues. hes acting like he is on vacation.
in regards to the subject above, i think everyone forgets the high volatility of this game. we see small sample sizes in bo3s and 5s, but the extended ladder play of unprepared singles show how anything can happen to anyone. as i believe whitera once said, we are not computer.
parting stream is best stream :D

Parting is basically only cannon rushing and warpgate rushing. I think he's just trying to get his MMR up to GM.
The games he's losing you can tell he's dicking around.

I play many custom games with PartinG, I can still beat him when he's playing "like practice" and then brainstorm on his strategy and what he can improve upon, for instance, last time he had TRUE in his group he was preparing an immortal all in on Overgrowth, in practice, he won every time I went Roach (about 2-3 times) and I managed to win every time I responded by going Hydra (4 times or so) then we figured out if TRUE goes Roach he's good, but if he goes Hydra he needs a better approach so I suggested sniping the 3rd, recalling and playing a macro game from there, and then he was able to stabilize the next couple of games after that.
PartinG's a friend, and a much better player than I am, I'm sure I'd lose most BO series vs him, but to think he wouldn't lose to anyone is dumb.
He has Redbull DC coming up, so we were both fucking around today since he was streaming
[9/13/2014 3:55:40 PM] PartinG: I can't play [9/13/2014 3:55:42 PM] PartinG: 100% skill [9/13/2014 3:55:43 PM] Paulo "CatZ" Vizcarra: when is redbull DC [9/13/2014 3:55:46 PM] PartinG: 20~22 I go to 17 [9/13/2014 3:56:02 PM] Paulo "CatZ" Vizcarra: kk, we can play fun strategy if you want [9/13/2014 3:58:08 PM] PartinG: you mean just play game? [9/13/2014 3:58:14 PM] PartinG: for fun? [9/13/2014 3:58:34 PM] PartinG: ok gogo
So we were both just doing weird shit for the most part, its still good practice, but I did nothing that might put him in a position to show a BO he doesn't want to show for DC on stream

This, EG pretty much moved away from Starcraft 2 and focused on Mobas. They have JD which is very profitable and marketable, I doubt they are will be adding on to their starcraft 2 Team and spend money sending parting around the world.
But who Knows. I can see European team being far better for Parting anyway since he stated he wants to go to all the DH, and European Events. Being in EU makes more sense than a North American team not spending much into SC2.

Everyone calls NA the weakest server, because it is. Suppy and Kane themselves said in a documentary/Interview while they were in Korea, that NA is a joke to ladder on and there is no point. Stop the hate on people like Wolf, ECT, you people are doing damage to your own Starcraft scene by hating on casters, streamers, players, ECT.
Just stop the useless hate, it's pathetic seeing high level pro gamers in NA and organizers in NA promote hate on certain people in the Starcraft 2 scene, and the drone of fans follow that hate, good way to build up the North American Scene right?

this has been going kinda away from topic of parting already but i think
Premier WCS:
KR>NA>EU
Ladder:
KR>EU>NA
when Wolf said Ji Sung farmed his premier WCS wins in easiest Premier region WCS NA, i dont agree with his statement, NA may have the weakest ladder, but has a stronger premier WCS NA than premier WCS EU (more koreans in WCS NA and arguably better ones, less koreans in WCS EU)'
so when u guys say NA is weakest server, are you talking bout Premier or ladder?
to try to further clarify:
saying Suppy and so on dont practice in NA is irrelevant, 99% of people including me agree that NA ladder is the weakest out of kr, eu, na
but Wolf said Ji Sung farmed his Premier league wins in the weakest premier region NA
and then parting lost multiple games on the NA ladder which is even worse than Premier NA (yes its been already discussed that he was only trying to get into GM so he wasnt playing serious, but whose to say his opponents who were streaming also were not doing the same and not playing completely serious either)

NA ladder is the ladder that no one practices on period. Stop the hate train on people who support and work in the scene. How hard is that people?

What the hell are you getting at...I'm not getting any hate at all from his posts...he's talking about PartinG's losses on the NA ladder and then bringing in Wolf as a talking point...
I'd say stop trying to switch the subject around and accuse him of something he's not doing...
And as for NA premier, atm it has plenty of strong players and I'd say it's about even with EU premier...but no one doubts how crappy the NA ladder is. Proof in point - go look at NA's GM league atm...

saying Suppy and so on dont practice in NA is irrelevant, 99% of people including me agree that NA ladder is the weakest out of kr, eu, na
but Wolf said Ji Sung farmed his Premier league wins in the weakest premier region NA
and then parting lost multiple games on the NA ladder which is even worse than Premier NA (yes its been already discussed that he was only trying to get into GM so he wasnt playing serious, but whose to say his opponents who were streaming also were not doing the same and not playing completely serious either)
NA ladder is the ladder that no one practices on period. Stop the hate train on people who support and work in the scene. How hard is that people? who is putting hate train? Wolf said, "WCS NA is weakest region."I said, "Dont underestimate NA".are u trying to start something? ,u call that is "hating" on people who work in the scene? think about those 2 phrases that were said from Wolf and I.
You sound super intelligent with your modest attempt at grammar and use of internet shorthand. Bravo!

So in other news, a puppy walked onto the train tracks while a train was coming. The operator reacted by slamming the brakes, but this caused the train to derail and slide off the track.
Fortunately, the puppy was unharmed.
Go go Parting!
I hope you join a North American team, but most likely you will go to Europe. That's understandable because the market is better there.
Good luck in your endeavours.

Guys...
Parting is cheesing every game to get to GM as fast as possible. Yes he's losing to Kane, Hitman, etc.
It doesn't mean NA is a strong region... it just means that SOME "pro" gamers will accidentally stop cheese once in a while.
He's like singing along to PSY and gateway rushing every game... don't understand what the argument even is here...
Also, WCS NA and NA ladder are not the same thing. At all.
