This isn't actually true. The zombies are much less 'jumpy' in the SA. The stability, FPS and performance is also much much better than in the mod. It's still in alpha, but if you're looking for a tough survival game (which is what I've always hoped the SA would go back to being), getting the standalone is the better way to go. If you wanna get three cars and a helicopter within 30 minutes, try the mod.

agreed i dont like the mod because they have recreated it to be super noob friendly and u dont care when u die anymore. thats one thing i enjoy about the SA. just wish they allowed more players on a server and added more zombies.

The alpha is slowly becoming one of the best gaming experiences since the earliest mod days. Well done rocket.
It's amazing to scavenge towns in a group of 3, keeping everyone alive and constantly looking out for other players. We've had lots of player encounters now. Ammo is very rare, which is good. Since there are so much possibilities to fuck over your character (food poisoning, wound infection, diseases, starvation) you have to keep a constant amount of supplies.
I agree that you meet a lot less players. That's because everyone is running north because there are literally no supplies on the southern part of the map. But the north is so big that you rarely see another person or group. We've had the most luck with the route Zelenogorsk->NWAF->Zelenogorsk.
Basically it feels exactly like in the earliest days of the mod. If someone spots another player your pulse is insantly going up and everyone is in stealh mode. I think this is the main reason DayZ is so successful, it actually stresses you out IRL. It's a lot easier to play 3h of bf4 than DayZ for 3 hrs in a bigger group.
GJ Rocket :D

well this logoff bug seems very annoying

I was about to join it and then I thought that as we play full on bandits with a friend, wouldn't be a good idea to have people join the same server just to get possibly shot at haha

I don't think thats any different from any other server. At least if you play with TL members you know they wont combat log.

Yeah, no hard feelings. Play however you want, it's not like when you are member of TL you have to treat everyone as a friend. It's impossible to keep a large group and expect that everyone will love each other and spare in game. Everything apart from backstabbing and cheating/exploiting is fair game.

I really hope they fix combatlogging soon, really annoying.

New Rule: If you need to kill a zombie and you have a choice between gun and not gun
Use the fucking gun.
Scenario: Miss like 5 times then the zombie single hits you unconscious, and you lose all your really nice pristine gun mods and clothes and bags of rice. The zombie does not care that you had a pristine fireman's axe, he does not give a single fuck about your blood level, you will be on the floor.

I have been taking care of zombies like this: just run a circle around them. The zombie will try to slowly turn around and won't be able to keep up. Then as your running just turn towards the zombie for a split second and take a swing with the ax. Trust me, the zombie will never hit you. I used to try to take them on head on... bad idea. You take unnecessary damage and possibly die. The circle method works really well, and it might continue to work even after alpha.

I always use fireman axe, this shit is so good that zeds kill themselves. And I don't mean that in some kind of silly way, literally. Today I had them headshoting themselves just running into my axe wielded when my character is crouching. The axe is sticking out a bit and they hit their heads while trying to attack me, hilarious.

Hm, actually I've had no problems killing them with an axe while straffing to avoid getting hit. Only thing is, you will aggro nearby zombies anyway despite using a melee weapon cause they call to each other or something.

Lol I just tried to have a axe melee with another guy and I failed horribly.
Its definitely different than Arma 2 Day Z. Any tips how to use the axe? I normally try to stay back and swing madly.

ROFLMAO
Just shoveled a guy to death... he had a full loadout... backpack full of food and water... he had an m4a1 with like 10 mages, had most of the tools.
I sneak up on him... knock him out after 2nd hit then just stand over him smashing him with the shovel ROFL as he cries in text chat "ZOMG U HACKING FAGGOT L2P HACKER NOOB" i was in tears laughing

lol tough survival game with 3 zombies per city. Fanboys make me laugh. I don't think you played the actual mod either. You probably played on a server with a different rule set.

I don't think you ever played the real mod. At least not on a real server set. If your going to shout non sense at least specify you are talking about a server with a private hive.
