I managed to get some good white/blue/black card to build some kind of Agressive Control deck (I can post the deck-list later on). While it had some control options to get advantages, it also had creatures, bestow creatures and auras. In my opinion, that was the best deck I could build out off those cards that I got. I managed to go 1-1-1 (0-2, 2-0, 1-1-1) and get fourth place in the event. Since there were only 6 participants, this would mean that I'd play a Bo3 against the third-placed player. However, a Bo1 match needed to be played to decide who I was going to play and since it was getting late, there were only 1 booster at stake and I'm going have a busy day today, I decided to go home after the swiss rounds and get some sleep. However I had lots of fun, which is the most important for me, despite me making a blunder that could've won me one game in the final swiss round (the tie was due to time limit).

The theory is that it's better to run additional control elements over win conditions. His list only had 1 Elspeth as well. For what it's worth, I would definitely play the 4th Divination over the 4th Jace. The deck has nothing else to do on turn 3 since there's almost nothing in the format you would want to Dissolve. It's really important to curve out correctly with this deck and plan your turns accurately because it's so fragile.

It isn't like you'll need the duals for both decks at the same time lol I built it so a friend could play it at FNM as he's sick of GW agro. He doesn't have the duals

But the mana bases (aka lands) of the vast majority of decks are prohibitively expensive yes. There are definitely decks without this issue but that is kinda the definition of being priced into a deck rather than choosing the best deck. Even if in some cases it still is the best deck >_> PS: The "new thing" in modern has a grand total of 2 lands that aren't islands. They aren't cheap (mutavaults ) but still it could be a lot worse.

Wizards will literally not stand for a format where the best decks don't use rare lands. Too much $ at stake. Basically, nobody opens packs of sets where the lands aren't valuable, because the rare lands are a lot of the EV in opening a box. So nobody buys those booster boxes and wizards is sad.

Boros burn/"control" is probably my deck of choice for anything smaller than a PTQ for a while... aka time to play Kaijudo instead... Updated my cube for the first time since M14, feels good.
