screw it, we should just donate anyway
we should actually do this. it's always good to let BW players know that the foreign audience cares.

Ohhh Snappp... Please happen = D

O_O !!! SONIC YOU ARE THE BEST.
On a related note, if it turns out that there is a viable structure in place, it would be good to have FPL back again.

I can't give much but yeah I would be willing to donate to make this happen. We wouldn't need to give much if enough of us gave something.

Skimming through the posts it seems like many of us would be willing to chip in if this were to happen. How much would you be willing to put out to make this come true?
Poll: How much would you be willing to donate?$11-20 (13) 37% $1-10 (9) 26% Maybe a nickle...at most (5) 14% $20-50 (5) 14% $50+ (3) 9% 35 total votes Your vote: How much would you be willing to donate? (Vote): Maybe a nickle...at most (Vote): $1-10 (Vote): $11-20 (Vote): $20-50 (Vote): $50+

I'll offer £25/$50 to get the ball rolling. It shouldn't be to hard to set up a way of donating.
edit: Don't be afraid to offer less. Every little helps.

yeah I mean whats the point, if you wanted to you can do it when they are streaming, just gift them balloons.
we're discussing donating for a tournament not players individually.

Hmm I guess I could do it but what would it be used for anyway? As for balloons I need to go register somewhere where there is no english and that's all hassle.

Not a lot of people are going to be to happy doing that when they can’t understand what the web page says.
Loads of things get cloud sourced today so it must be pretty simple to make a secure English language team Liquid donates fund. The problem would be firstly whether enough people are willing to donate to actually make a significant contribution for Sonic and secondly if for some reason it didn’t happen we probably wouldn’t be able to get money back. But I guess if that was the case the money could just go towards the next SRT/SSL. I wouldn’t be to unhappy with that.

People only want to watch and give money to the old legends and the guys currently kicking ass. There is very little support for players below this level. People that aren’t say the top 20 players aren’t going to get many people on their streams and aren’t going to get many donations so probably will have a tougher time making a living from playing Broodwar. I guess there will all ways be amateurs coming through who play for fun and just want the chance to play against the famous players. But if they can’t make enough money to make a career from it then they’re not going to play enough to get up to the level.
The way the old structure worked the teams where what ensured the new players could come through and get enough playing time.

Although from the sounds of things the B teamers didn't get paid well/at all even in the old system, at least this way they're getting some money, and if they get results too then they'll get more viewers and more balloons.

People could also just donate to the Snipealot twitch stream, who is already giving most of his donations (except equipment upgrades and maintenance) to Sonic via Paypal as I understand it. Donating money to Sonic is probably the easiest and best solution to support the Korean BW scene at the moment.
