I take responsibility in getting lynched. I said so before that it was partly my own fault. But out of the 4 votes on me there were 2 scummers and a guy that thought I replaced Lord Velocity. Those 3 guys voted for me in the last 3 minutes of the game.
Really didn't see it coming I would get lynched. And it was somewhat obvious that there would have been 2 scummers on me + Umasi was scum after my lynch, too bad 2 people got modkilled.
I think town was in a pretty good spot after my lynch, killerdog was on the money and we still had 3 powerful blue roles. Just silly that 2 modkills happened.

yeah i guess modkills are gonna happen in newbie games. they happen less often in non newbie games! if you've played before consider signing up for the normal mini, Golden Sun Mini mafia, which is not a newbie game
|
Yeah people should join Golden Sun!!
|
nop disregard the mini, /in to TLXII: TL Noir (funnily enough, koshi is already signed upf ro golden sun)
|
refreshing before posting is for losers
|
I have been playing every game for a couple of months now :D.
Only missed Desert mafia.
|
op you're in the big game too jeez how do you find the tiiiiime
|
It's this or actually working :D
|
!!my brother needs your attitude /wahaha
|
I'm afraid I'll just be useless and get mislynched right away in a normal game so I think I'll obs for a while first.
I didn't get to use the coaches anywhere as much as I should have in my newbies, I really should have asked for more coaching in the first game. 2 scum games out of 4 newbies sucked given how much I dislike playing scum.
|
Also, I actually tried to vote Koshi at the last moment but my internet was being very wonky in the last 30 minutes before the lynch so that didn't happen.
|
haha, presumably better it didn't. I derped super hard calling for usto save me

If you have time just /in on every game and play your best. As long as you make 10-1000 posts a day nobody is going to give you shit.

I am Sorry!
alright now that I have apologized again lets look a bit at the game in the big picture:
Day 1: This game suffers from terrible terrible inactiveness. It allowed heavenz to get away with a really crappy opening post without anyone noticing it really or to be more exact not whipping him for it, since he at least "posted". In general policy talk is one of the things to get games going. However there comes a point when you should stop it and start discussing reads. Unwillingness to do so (as from HolyFlare) is usually a pretty scummy trait.
Blurry's entrance into the thread was picture perfect, promoting discussion and establishing townieness at the same time. The second half of day 2 was much better activitywise but still it was dominated by Umasi and HolyFlare. While it is good in general to have town leaders, when one of them turns out to be scum it is pretty rough.
The lynch on Chairman Ray was weird, I must say as an observer. I fully expected town to lynch myRZeth (a typical lurker/useless lynch on Day 1). While Chairman Ray did look scummy in parts I would not have thought town would lynch him over myRZeth. And in fact it did not. If you take the two scum on Ray out of the equation myRZeth would have been the lynch.
Night 1: Night 1 has a grand total of 2 pages. which is terrible yet again. You have seen a slip and you have been able to follow the voting patterns of day 1. I cannot stress how important it is to be unafraid to post during night. The worst case is that you will get shot, but that risk is there anyway. On to the Nightactions: Blurry gets shot as the obvious choice. The doctor had a quite difficult choice between blurry, Holyflare and Umasi. I have not received any PM regarding the role though so I was wondering why bereft chose to hold his save. The roleblock on infii makes him more town, but does not confirm anything. HolyFlare checks bereft and now has a greencheck on him.
Day 2: Enter the clusterfuck. First off however activity took another dive. When Koshi replaces in, I actually was impressed. He brought out the whip, pushing for discussion, giving reads and generally shaking town up quite a bit. HolyFlare is the first to get the wagon on Koshi going. I think this was mainly due to HolyFlare knowing bereft's alignment from the check. So I believe part of your reasons for pushing Koshi was that you knew bereft was town. When HolyFlare does this post however:
On September 09 2013 06:55 Holyflare wrote: He sure as shit isn't a lynch today, he hasn't really done anything scummy today, has inputted, NOBODY ELSE EVEN FUCKING TALKED TODAY APART FROM HIM ME AND INFII, now people are lynch training him?? Switch to koshi or infii or i swear to god you are ruining this game
You should ask yourself and look at yourself closely. Koshi replaced in about 4 hours to deadline and did a shitton to promote discussion instead of blending away into the mass of lurkers/inactives. While some points in HolyFlare's case are valid, they should never have been enough to convince enough town to lynch on Koshi. In the end it took 2 votes by scum to save Umasi and to kill Koshi.
Game ends here because I derp hard. however if the town doc would have gotten the save through, this game might have easily shifted into town's favor. The lynch on Koshi was very revealing as scum did their best to save Umasi. Again I cannot stress how sorry I am, but I do hope this (shallow) analysis helps you a bit and I also hope you will sign up for more games!
Generally speaking, Inactivity (and the resulting modkills) was the scum mvp. The setup itself is slightly townfavored, since I thought that activity might become a problem, that it would result in 3 replacement/modkills however was something I did not expect. Next time I host a newbie I will wait for at least 2 availible replacements before starting. Another important factor that town has to learn is to establish townieness. That is very difficult I admit it, but if you can establish yourself as innocent and pro-town the circle of suspects will grow smaller until only scum are left. Playing TL Mafia as town involves 2 key aspects: Establish your own townieness and Find out scum. I believe most of the players this game were so focused on scumhunting that they neglected the first aspect. Resulting in split opinions and a town which was deeply divided over whom to trust. Of course if you are a good scumhunter you will also establish some amount of townieness through that , but it is important to be as transparent as possible so even when people disagree with you, they can see how you came to the conclusion, even understand how your reads are different.

I was thinking I'd likely be alone vs town had the game continued given the voting pattern.
I kind of wanted to "consolidate" onto Koshi as I think I might've gotten away with that easier than heavenz/Umasi but my internet was being crappy and they managed to switch first.
I was also very scared of someone noticing my horrible lack of read on heavenz, but luckily town was distracted enough to miss that.

Bereft... He would have probably docced his buddy Blurry. + voting me because he thought I was Lord Velocity.
Not a great game :D (on crucial moments)

I think that in future newbie games people should be encouraged to post at least 15 times on Day 1. Even 15 1 liners is going to help newbie games become more enjoyable. I have replaced in this game and the previous newbie game and both had serious problems with activity on Day 1.
Maybe it is a bit unfair for the newbie scummers, or maybe it will be in their favor because town will start to eat each other.
PS: I know this is a stupid extra rule, but it might help activity on Day 1.

Hmm...it might be worth giving it a try.
Also if you have finished all your newbies and want to join a "normal" game, go /in for Golden Sun Mafia! I won't screw up again, I promise!

Oh also, interesting that observers think Blurry was obvious NK, especially after Holyflare calling it horrible NK during the game.
My reasoning for the kill was that he was super town and had a town circlejerk going with Bereft, that made them very dangerous as it seemed they'd likely vote together later on. Didn't even check what his reads were back then. (Just so you know how WIFOM it was to think he was killed for having fingered the scum team.)

To be honest, 15 posts may be a bit much, especially if you have bad timezone and can't have an active discussion. It would help if lurkers would actually get lynched but in my newbies I can't remember having lynched any actual lurkers on D1. (Well, we did a horribad mislynch on a 0-poster but that doesn't count as lurking IMHO.) It might help convince people they need to talk if not talking would lead to repercussions.
