Disagree. I'm not going to argue with inexperienced players though. Especially when they already knew who was town. This game suffered from lurkers that should have been modkilled and the remaining players bar 1 or 2 were still inactive. Made it almost impossible to get solid reads on the game. Most things were just hunches. Nothing more than gut feeling at all If theres two things for the new players to learn from this game. 1. Contact your coaches. Only two players contacted me. Which is a shame. Because the first rule of town us to establish innocence. And this was not done by many. Coaches CAN help with this. 2. Inactivity kills town. Full stop. Town can not let scum blend into a majority of inactives. Otherwise GG no re. | ||

i havn't read the game, just the post game chat. a couple notes 1) being angry and calling people bad won't solve problems 2) in fact it will probably not help at all Now maybe people deserve to be insulted. That happens. that might be the case here. maybe some people made truly boneheaded plays, and one or two inactive or stupid townies ruined the game. Okay, then I see why you want to ladle on the hatred. But for me my goal after a game is over (besides bragging) is to make sure i have as much fun as possible in the next game in play. That means, in part, hanging out with dudes and giving honest criticism on their play and also being willing to at least pretend to accept the so-called "criticisms" to my immaculate play. As long as I can reasonably fool people into thinking that i'm listening to them and trying to learn from them, other people will start listening and trying to learn for real and then in the next game i have good players to play with and not jubjubs otherwise if all you do is insult people everyone gets bitter and salty and eventually every mafia game on this forum will be this: ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/ruBi3l.jpg) ;_; | ||

I was really demotivated after seeing I rolled scum, simply don't like it. Typing at something like 5 WPM instead of the usual 70+ demotivated me to the point of not posting unless I really had to. I really wanted to lynch myRZeth just to ensure no one ever thinks playing like that is an option in TL mafias, but my alignment kind of forced my hand there... | ||

there is a roleblock. to the random townie, this implies that A: Someone thought you were town or B: there is a scum roleblocker who thought you were blue. This implies townieness. However, the reason I do not think it is a big deal is it would mean that I trust some random jailkeepers read more than my own. | ||

1) if you are town, always claim when you are RBed since it's info town can use 2) scum prefers to RB people instead of withholding the RB and fakeclaiming an RB, since RBing people has a chance of disrupting the doctor or cop this means that in general, people who are RBed are more often town than they are scum. However, more experienced players will tell you that an RB claim is a nulltell, citing reasons like "scum fakeclaims sometimes" for why they don't use it as a tell. They are correct. People raise the counterpoint that "scum does this rarely, like 1/4 of the time even" to state that RB claim is in fact a towntell, but these people are wrong. Even assuming that scum fakeclaims RB exactly 1/4 of the time, you still can't use an RB claim to reliably say someone is townie. Why is that? Well, it has to do with statistics. Let's say that RB claims in a normal mini work like this: 3/4 of the time, the person claiming RB is a town aligned player 1/4 of the time, the person claiming RB is scum, and scum withheld the RB that night you might say, that SEEMS like it's a good metric, since 3/4 of the time, an RB claimer is town. And you'd be wrong. Let's say you're in a game with 12 alive, 3 of whom are scum, and at the start of a day someone claims they got RBed. This is a pretty normal scenario (though on D2 you might expect, say, 9 alive, 2 of whom are scum, after a lynch, a vigi shot, and a scum kp) in a game. Now, this guy who claimed RB will 3/4 of the time be town, since most of the time town claims RB, right? well, sure, but this isn't useful info. the base rate for people being town is 3/4. The fact that this guy now has a 3/4 chance of being town doesn't give you any information on him. Now, if he was obviously not-blue, or there are other factors, maybe it means something, but in a vaccuum, since there are more town than scum in games, the fact that scum only rarely fakeclaims RB doesn't mean an RB claim makes someone more likely to be town than they were before. This is also why things like "slight towntells" are bad and people get mad at players for only giving out weak townreads. If you just randomly pick someone, you should have a slight townread on him, since there's a decent chance he's a townie. Evidence that points towards a modest chance of towniness is not useful. Evidence that modestly points towards a concrete chance of being town IS useful (ie, a blue claim, a cop claiming a green check on him) and Evidence that points towards even a decent chance of being scum is useful. But yeah, RB is generally a null-tell. It looks slightly townie, but not more townie than people look by default when playing in a game in which most people roll town | ||

Rb doesn't guarantee town as scum don't have to rb town. That simple. I believe if someone is declared confirmed town due to a rb claim then sentiment in that player must have already leaned town and the claim is icing on the cake. P.s. I have rbd myself as scum before | ||

Only when scum is extremely desperate they are going to RB one of their own opposed to the possible cop/medic/blue role on town. 2) when scum has no RB Claiming RB as scum is suicidal because the scumteam will have to keep the fake RB rotating between each other or keep it on the same guy the entire game. Which will look really strange when a framer flips later on, or just suspicious when there is no RB on a cop/doc call later on, which is unlikely but imagine that. Or 2 town players call cop... :D (see Titanic) Had to do some work, refreshed and saw that BH made a much smarter post. Still going to post this. for shizzle. | ||
