Starcraft has been a part of my life for a very long time. I even remember playing games on Kali.net and hanging out in Maven's Haven and remember chatting and playing with the American greats such as Agent911, Maynard, {88}INcontrol (even back then), so many more I can't recall. Starcraft has provided me with so many hours of fun.
Today, however, I realized it was for the very best that I play my last Starcraft game today. I've played SCBW since the day it came out quite regularly over the years and that transitioned to SCII. I had almost 4k games on my account as of earlier today. During this time I even found enough time to finish a PhD while playing the game A LOT. Sometimes I think it was the only reason I could have done this (stress relief). I always used the game as a stress reliever, but now I'm just too busy. I've tried many times to uninstall, but always, always found myself reinstalling soon after. I asked Blizzard to permanently suspend both my SCBW and SCII game licenses.
Without any doubt I will continue to watch the streams and follow my favorite players. I hope SCII continues to thrive. All the best to eSports! GLHF ^ ^
Blizzard was fantastic in helping me with my request; something I was unsure they would even do.
TLDR; I recognized that I was basically addicted to SC, can't trust myself not to play, asked blizzard to suspend my accounts, and they obliged. I love starcraft. GLHF.

Bold moves. I'm glad you'll still watch with us all though even if we won't hit you on ladder anymore. Way to control your addiction and go all the way with this man, that's serious business.
GL HF to you too.

Like you I have played since the dawn of age, but grew tired of the game last year. It's wierd how much impact a game can have on your life!
Stop giving me ideas. No. I will not install Dota2. No. I will not install Dota2. No. I will not install Dota 2. No....

I think you need to work on what's going on behind the scenes...if you're having trouble staying away from the game and if it's affecting you unhealthily, then the problem isn't the game. And getting rid of the game won't get rid of the problem.
Just saying. I worry whenever people say they're "addicted to gaming" or talk about being really emotionally attached to the game to the point where it's affecting their lives negatively.

Nono, it's the game. Perhaps I don't fully understand what I'm talking about when I say "I may be addicted to this game". I don't have a problem, emotionally, with the game. It's not affecting my psychy. I don't have anger issues. etc. It's the one simple thing of it takes too much of my time. I play it constantly. I couldn't stop playing the game. I had tons of fun; it just took too much of my time.
There's no deep-seated emotional issue that I need to see a shrink about here. I spent too much time playing a game, recognized it, and decided to quit playing. That's all.

I'd like to kindly inform you that you are wrong!
Just wait until Legacy of the Void comes out... you'll get that familiar itch... you will come back and play again :D
At least I hope you do, eventually!

I just feel like asking Blizzard to suspend your accounts because you can't stop playing it even by uninstalling it is a little on the extreme side of "I just decided to stop playing".
And: deep-seeded*.

To each their own buddy. My overall point was to say I appreciated the game for many years and it was time to hang my hat. You've already identified yourself as the type that won't accept anything I have to say on why I did what I did so I'm not really going to explain myself further. I just wanted to make sure I didn't spend any more time playing a game.
And you're wrong, it is "deep-seated".
God, I hate the internet sometimes. You're making a thing out of a blog post that really isn't a thing, just because you want to stir something up for funzies.

Wow, this was a pretty virulent response lol. I meant nothing by my posts and I didn't mean to accuse you of anything, I was merely expressing some concerns and giving an opinion that asking Blizz to suspend your accounts was a little extreme (and should be unnecessary). I don't need any more explanation from you, I'm quite content with the response you gave me; I'm not looking for a rise out of you.
Annnnnnd...I'm actually quite surprised it's "deep-seated", that doesn't make a lot of sense to me considering that it means "deeply ingrained". But apparently its origin is with an idiomatic phrase from the 1800s, so go figure. No need to make a big deal out of it and PM me it lol.

OK, sorry, but you came off as a bit condescending especially with the incorrect correction. Lost in communication, I suppose.

Uh oh what you gonna do when lotv comes out? Are you gonna completely abandon the cheesy story?

Best of luck hope you manage to get everything under control and come back to SC as a casual gamer eventually

Thanks! I think I'll try to stick to bejeweled on my phone to pass the time. I'm permanently converted to a casual stream-watcher now.
