I'm hoping someone here can answer a question I have.
I have an older C2D E8400 w/ 4GB of RAM and a Radeon HD 5770. Just curious about outputting from other devices (my main PC, 360, etc) and just using it to encode a stream using a video capture device and it basically being my production machine.
When it comes to just encoding, to produce say a 720p/1080p stream...if it's entirely dedicated to just do this would I be able to do it with a lesser machine?

Because of hackshield you can't use game capture (try monitor/window capture).

those kill fps like crazy though :\ game is pretty poorly optimized to be honest xsplit seems to work though sadly

Is there a bug with Game capture using OBS? It freezes the picture both times ive tried to add source/gamecapture, but with monitor capture everything is fine

The best option to stream is using DXtory+OBS combination. You add "Video Capture Device" and chose Dxtory video 1 after its installed. In Dxtory use a writing speed of 100Mb/s. For those who dont know DXtory: http://download.cnet.com/Dxtory/3000-13633_4-10705596.html
The reason for DXtory is that you can play and stream in fullscreen mode, no need for windowed mode (lower fps).
I got a 3.4ghz processor and gtx460 (overclocked), I can play SC2 with 200 fps. I can stream fine on 60-100 fps, but when there is a big 200/200 engagement my twitch stream freeze, but the audio is fine and doesnt freeze. Anyone know what this problem might be? I use 720p with my 100mbit net.

Using DXTory with OBS is pointless, OBS has its own built in capture which is more efficient.
|
R1CH, it is not pointless. I forgot mentioning the sole reason for Dxtory is that you can play in fullscreen, whilst in Xsplit or OBS you need to use windowed mode (or else stream appear black). In windowed mode you get worse FPS.
|
No you don't. OBS has built in game capture which is just like DXTory, except better.
|
There are so many things wrong with this.
First of all, you probably shouldn't be arguing with R1CH-- he actually knows things.
Second, you 100% CAN stream fullscreen games with OBS. It's called 'Game Capture'.
Third, I'm pretty sure Dxtory puts a huge watermark on your stream unless you pay for it (Maybe this has changed over the last year+? Correct me if I'm wrong). So you're telling people to PAY for a program to stream fullscreen when the FREE program can already do it. And the free program does it BETTER.
Stahp.

Honestly, there is no need to read the rest of the post after this line:

I had this issue like a month ago and spent days looking for solutions and talked to fellow friends who streamed. None of them can stream in full screen without a black screen. The game capture just does not seem to work in full screen. Only windowed full screen/windowed mode.

Game capture works perfectly fine with sc2. The only thing you should be aware of when playing fullscreen is that SC2 engine doesn't render anything if you're alt-tabbed, so yeah, you get a black screen (if you just started capturing) or last frame.

Not really what I mean. There is nothing at all. When alt tabbed or started streaming when in full screen, it's just black with only the cursor. In no instance have I ever gotten to actually see SC2 except in windowed full screen/windowed.

You can start a thread in http://obsproject.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6 , make sure you include last obs log and captureHookLog.txt (here's explained how to get the logs http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97 .. captureHookLog.txt is located in pluginData folder), or, you can drop by obs irc channel (#obsproject quakenet.org or http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=obsproject )

There was a brief period where Game Capture seems to have had some bugs, after the release of OBS v0.50 I think? I *only* use Game Capture though and have never had any issues with streaming any of my games in fullscreen mode.
Just to double check, you guys are 100% sure you were using Game Capture and not Monitor Capture, right?

It's not that, he uses a laptop with switchable graphics (intel HD + NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M) , the game while in fullscreen uses the nvidia gpu and obs unless set to use nvidia gpu will not capture the game.

Regarding game capture: I've been using it since it first came out on OBS, it's way better than dxtory performance wise and I never had any problems with it streaming fullscreen SC2.

Hey guys, I can finally get an Internet package that has better than 1mbps for upload. From a streaming with OBS perspective, is 2mbps enough to stream in 720P with good quality? This is from a pure streaming perspective, and not including other factors such as playing cross servers, which I'd love to do but is too laggy to do. I think if 25/2 isn't sufficient, then I might as well get 45/4 due to the following pricing:
Right now I can upgrade from 28/1 for $47 + tax to 25/2, 35/3, 45/4, or 150/10 for $40, $50, $53, and $85 respectively.
