Please tell ur friends, state ur opinion in this thread, rate the blog and go on reddit:http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/1e7hbt/top30_foreigner_ranking_may_2013/About me and the ranking+ Show Spoiler +Hi TeamLiquid (and reddit), I'm DiaBoLuS, a german gm mmr protoss player in HotS, former acutal HotS GM and 6 time GM in WoL. I play sc2 since the release of the beta and I watch a shitton of professional SC2 – basically all major tournaments, many online cups and ladderstreams as well. Also, im obsessed with rankings! Therefore, i post a foreigner rankings for about a year now, and i plan to keep posting rankings on a monthly basis in the future. When i talk about „Foreigners“, i exclude non-korean asian players (chinese, taiwanese), simply because I dont see enough of those scenes to rank them, and they dont participate in your regular major tournaments too often. So you may call it a „Western Foreigner Ranking“ if you so desire. How do i make my ranking? Which criteria do i have?My personal ranking watches mostly on results, but also on how they where achieved. Also, ladder-performances as well as past, major results play a role in my ranking – as well as my general impression of a player (does he seem talented / cheesy / cant seem show off his full potential somehow). Activity obviously also plays a role – you cant call a player you never get to see one of the absolute best in my opinion. Ranking system: roughly75% = my own rank /// 25% = aligulac.com rank. both ranks will be shown in the players pictures, comulating in one rank. 30* means 30+ or rank 30-40.Also, only the Top30 players will be shown, not the 20-25 players following. There will possibly be a small list of the 5 players coming the closest to Top30. So when criticizing the ranking, please talk specifically about my personal rank given, not the comulated rank, since the aligulac rank isnt influenced by me too make things easier: (my own rank [3x] / aligulac rank [1x])

stop mentioning fraer as coming close, you're breaking my heart
he may have maintained a decent rank in aligulac, but that's because he hasn't played enough to lose points
I mean, he's played like five ladder games in the last two weeks and lost 0-2 0-4 in some Russian tourney he got invited to, I assure you that he isn't even close to coming close to top 30.

well, replace him with BlinG in your mind then, he would be the next player following doesnt alligulac lower the points when a player is inactive for too long? if not, thats a bit sad :/

fraer has been playing in a tourney every three weeks or so, but he simply doesn't train and therefore loses all the time
the DotA curse :D

You have to play a decent amount of games to keep the uncertainty down though. High uncertainty means that a single loss will lose you a lot of points.

I think Verdi should be in top 30, and Naniwa 1st.
|
ye, i have nani on 1, luci on 2, but as you can see:
Lucifron is first on aligulac Naniwa is 10th on aligulac.
That catapults Lucifron to rank 1!
You can see this by knowing this
Although i have to say that i am a bit surpised about everyone agreeing on Naniwa being first - you cant forget that TLO 2-0ed him in WCS groupstage.
My personal top 10 wouldve looked like this nevertheless (without counting in aligulac): + Show Spoiler +1. NaNiWa 2. Lucifron 3. Stephano 4. SaSe 5. Scarlett 6. VortiX 7. Kas 8. MaNa 9. Nerchio 10. TLO
Here the aligulac foreigner ranking for you (might have already changed from yesterday a tiny bit, and again, note that i exclude chinese/taiwanese):
http://www.aligulac.com/periods/84/?page=1&sort=&race=ptzrs&nats=foreigners
Oh - and to some guys: read the introduction before posting on reddit!
thanks for all the feedback, will try to keep it up!

Why is Kas so highly placed? I think overall he has gotten a bit weaker compared to WOL. Similar things might be said about Scarlett (though it`s mostly her wrists).

I think Heromarine should definitly be in there, at Eizo Cup, he went 7-7 in a group with Kas, Stephano, Bly, Grubby and Krass and finished above everyone but Kas there. After that he beat Socke and lost to Lucifron only 3-2, and made it a lot closer, than MVP was able to. Other than that, it looks quite ok, Happy could maybe be a bit higher, but the ranking was written before his WCS group. Also Sase may be a bit to high.

Looking forward to it since WCS has shaken the EU scene up bit quite a bit.

cant make it today, has to be done on sunday.
