So real life got in the way of my practice for a week so I didn't get any chance to continue my training for that time. I was curious to see what this did to my abilities so I jumped right into a game. I certainly am relying on mostly didactic memory because I really had to think hard about what I wanted to do to make my fingers start working. However some deeper memories were formed and once I had remembered the start of a sequence, the patterns flowed quickly. As the game progressed I felt more and more comfortable in my shoes but still somewhat far away from where I was after the more intensive training. I defeated the computer on the very hard while being able to micro against 3 bases at the same time due to control groups but the macro felt "meh" and forced.
In short, long hiatuses when training muscle memory isn't a good thing.
And while that's not really news, it a good reminder for me that daily training pays off more than burst training.
