(have you seen fight scenes like those ever?) its just too bad the last half gets pretentious as hell and is just basically a ripoff of tarkofsky / kubrick. that and almost every scene has that vignette look which is distracting. but its the same guy who made pusher and drive - so it has some real skill behind it. not really a hidden gem, but "children of men" is relatively unknown and features the best war scene cinematography ever... its almost too good, to the point where its not even a film. so go watch it. nuh uh! inglorious bastards is besteset! ik guys chill out

Not sure how well known it is, but it sliped by me. Quite a charming little film. Not an all star cast, not a terribly big budget, but quite entertaining. IMDB

Mourning his dead child, a haunted Vietnam vet attempts to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of disassociation. To do so, he must decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099871/ Just finished watching it before GSTL and totally recommend it if you like this type of movie.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/ for you philosophy lovers out there "Moon" tackles several complex issues. One issue is the nature of our existence, and what it means to be an individual. Another side issue explored is whether or not AI is capable of human like thoughts and emotions. The basic premise is you have a guy working a shift on a moon base with his AI companion/assistant. However, a certain event leads him to discover that he is not living the life he thought he was. An interesting movie.

Anyways here is an awesome film called Run Lola Run. God, I hated that movie. Reminded me of a terrible Groundhog Day. EDIT: Got rid of the YT embed.

Some other great films that I need to rewatch soon: (AKA City of God) Not exactly under the radar, but also on my watch-again-soon list:

Absolutely fantastic movie. Great drama/'adventure' with some comedy. I'm not a fan of Bollywood stuff much, namely due to the musicals, but this was a really fantastic movie, and in my opinion it had quite a Hollywood/North-American/European style to it —a style which most people are probably accustomed to— aside from the few (not many thankfully) musicals in it. I wish there were a way to search this post to see if any of the movies I would suggest are missing. Anyways here is an awesome film called Run Lola Run. Yeah, totally. Not to downplay the utility of such a feature, but even if it did exist, we'd still have the problem of people posting images of the movie without saying the title in their post. Also, Jet-Li's Fearless was really good IIRC. A Prophet was pretty good, but nothing too memorable. Has really great reviews though. Old Boy I didn't care for Old Boy that much. I was expecting better; nonetheless it was still kinda cool. For most of the movie it felt slow-going and rather boring though. All the movies I talked about here are foreign films which is why they're 'hidden' gems. They aren't necessarily that hidden at all in their native countries though.

Very good. Had low expectations going in because I figured it to be a shocker movie that just has one big scene of schoolgirls committing suicide but it actually has lots of depth. And, fortunately, 30 or so schoolkids committing mass suicide is not the most disturbing scene in this film; It gets worse and all the more to get the film's message across that pop culture corrupts.

The fight scene in the middle where he fights about 10 guys is so nicely done. here it is: + Show Spoiler + edit: Also if you watch this film, it is insanely biased, so don't take any truth from it, but it is an amazing movie nonetheless.

Never heard about Moon. City of god is known only because it has been so highly rated but it is definitely something the mass hasn't seen. It is even more importantly a movie that people should really see even though they might have been turned off by the pitch.

Rarely do movies portray the questioning of reality so well. Just don't read it up on wikipedia as they spoil everything and one of the strengths of this movie is not knowing what's going to come next. Greatly second this, I had to back and check if it really wasn't actually based on a PKD story.

Yeah but these are movies released in international distribution, with DVD and BluRay releases and what-not all over the place. When I came to this thread I expected to see independent, or amateur staff, some relic from the past which can be only found on private trackers, or a neat documentary with limited circulations - not godfucking Lost In Overappraisal.
