why? why is it too much to hope for a helping hand if you're down on the ground, and instead get told "suck it up, other people have it worse in life"? people are allowed to ask for help, even if it's only mental support

You're being dramatic here without taking the context of each topics asking for help. Topics like "I have abusive parents because I don't have an iPhone" deserves the "suck it up response". Topics like this: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=397919 do indeed deserve mental support responses which TL has thoroughly provided.
Really, the community is slightly skewed toward negativity in line with the rest of the anonymous Internet, but when someone really needs support or help, the community is there to help out.

Iranon - I read that part as him being upset he never got any birthday gifts or anything. It was pretty entitled sounding but it was one line in the post that everyone jumped on, ignoring the rest of it and the entire point of the blog. You don't remember when Rekrul was modding and Chill posted actively in blogs section? Fanatacism, CM, moltkewarding, Mani even. The old TL vets were way more belligerent when it came to someone they thought was stupid. Nowadays, the mods are mostly impersonal and cleave to site policy rather than individual biases. The kids just whine about balance. There's hardly anywhere near as much venomous hatred between fans of rival teams, just in general TL is much more benign than how it used to be. Sure, there was more chumminess between members who knew each other, but when it came to general reactions to idiocy, TL was a much more hostile place in the past.
I agree with this.

Of course people are allowed to ask. Don't mind the haters. Just ignore them.

Not sure if that's satire or serious. Cannot tell. If its serious (which i doubt) its retarded. If its satire, not the best I've seen. Feels so serious.

You also have to be aware of the demographic age of the population that is catered on TL. Different blogs will evoke variable responses from anywhere from the ages of 13-30+ years of age. That in itself is an overlap in generations, which plays a large role in shaping opinions of the people in their generational era

Everybody wants to be the best man
and lately people are lining up for the ''I have it the worst'' debate

Holy mother of shit, I've used "Basically". Somewhere, I feel like Prawned is raging at me.
+ Show Spoiler + Edit: Fuck you, Prawned, I'll say whatever I want, when I want. Basically, to be honest, at the end of the day, your opinion is just made of a deadly combination of rage, stupidity and shit. You know what I think is completely unnecessary? Adding "fucking" in the middle of sentences. We get it. You used caps/shift key, we know you're mad. But what the fuck. Why don't we just optimize all of dialogue right now by never using adjectives ever again from this point forward? Why would you go "What's the bloody point of saying that." and end the goddamn fucking sentence with a period instead of a question mark at the end of your rant!?

The community took a huge nosedive since SC2 came out. I've gone on the automated ban list multiple times just to see pages of post 2010 accounts before you can find someone 2009 and prior with a ban. I don't know what it is or why suddenly a new game brings a bunch of garbage, but it did and I guess I've just gotten used to it.

yeah no it wasnt nicer 2 years ago. you must have not been around 2005, 2006, 2007... when you were an idiot then, you got shat on. all these dumb girl blogs and idiots like stateofthereverie, efferentwhateverthefuck etc wouldnt have made it a month because they'd have either rage quit the site or have been banned

I agree about expecting positive from the Internet. And it depends on tone. If it sounds like botching, people will jump on you. If it sounds like a thoughtful post people are more likely to respond positively.
And on the bad/abusive parents note, I'm pretty sure I win (not that I care, I just tel people this to shut them up when they are whining) This guy is my father.

Not everybody here is there to help other people.
