Best AFK strategy?
Have Ally Cheater (Insane) AI at Economy Focus Have Enemy Very Easy AI at whatever
Set AI attack marker inside your base. At 5 min mark request 9950 min 9950 gas (max amount) Be back at 15- 20 min, build tech buildings, request 9950 9950 again (almost imedietaly gain at this moment). Spent it all, kill enemy, GG with 3 Alt Tabs, with <10 minutes actually playing.
PS: Having Enemy set as very easy means you cant literraly lose, so u can be AFK as much as u like (keep your AI attack point inside your base).
EDIT: This game miss one thing. The PLAY AGAIN button should create lobby with the same AI settings as in game already played.

That is not that much as it sounds. You probably don't start from zero (levels were not reset in the last patch.) A game I play normally yieds about 62-65k XP. A game versus computers is not as stressful as a ladder game.
Even though I am partly afk, a game lasts about 20-22 blizzard minutes only, so about 15 real minutes. That means, a race can be got from level 1 to 30 within less than 20 hours of time. I guess it could be done faster with the proper strategy.

So it's manageable.

Yea, if you get games to <15 minutes (c. 10-11 real minutes) and take advantage of the extra 10k bonus daily, you can make the grind pretty efficient (about 20 hours per race). It may not be as fun or relaxing but it can shed about 30+ hours off the required time to complete. I figure I can grind now and then relax when the game is released and earn them via ladder. But right now, as Sweet Brown says, ain't nobody got time for that!
|
Oh, You're right. I count 90 hours in Blizzard time, so it could be near 60 real time
Also AFK strats are working just fine :D
|
AFK strats just seem to be too slow and risky since we don't know the close of beta yet. It would be mid February for all we know. I'd rather cut 5-10 minutes off each game and get the portraits faster and then take my time practicing real builds against people or taking a break so HoTS release seems more 'fresh' after the grind.
|
I've been averaging 55,000 xp per 15 minutes (blizzard). 4,750,000 exp to max level = 86~ games to get max level
not that bad IMO, especially considering that I only want one of the portraits. I'll probably do 1/4 (around 20) of the games each day for 4 days
|
Quickmatch says the season ends 1. march 2013. So that's 2 weeks before the actual release. I think that sounds about right.
I'll just do 2 farming games for about 70k/20 minutes and a few quick matches if there is time for it. Should be enough to get to level 30 before the end of the beta.

If you request 4 times 10k min + what you mine you should have about 50k points, so just can just ask the ai to kill the very easy one! However if what want to minimize is your number on actions you better let them mine out the map and spend it all in overlords.
(btw it's a 66% reduction not 77% )

It's easier for zergs to reach max level because of larva mechanic which allows to make a lot of units, so you need resources and overlords for them.
It levels up a bit slower as protoss and terran I think

Yes zerg has some boons:
- You can spend minerals even if you maxed by building overlords - You can spend gas even if you maxed by morphing overseers - You can explode banes to free up supply - You can use the nydus trick to get rid of ground supply quickly

What would you say is the fastest way as zerg to get 50K? Can you do 14 minute games?
|
I do 13-14 minute games with Zerg using a Muta build. I'm sure protoss with mass Warpgate will be equally fast, if not faster since there will be no travel time with proxy pylons. Terran is going to be the biggest pain unless I build everything in the middle of the map or closer since the travel time delays the killing xp.
E: Is anyone running sub-15 minute 50k xp games with Terran? I'd like to know what strategies you are using.
|
I land at around 15-16 blizzard minutes with 3 bases, 5 hatches/queens, 1 evo and lings. Both mutas and ultras take a few minutes longer.
|
For Zerg if I'm not doing AFK builds, I train Stephano PvZ 12:00 min 200-max-Roaches. With AI money u can have full roach army around 10 minute mark, and kill enemy AI until 15:00.
I need tips for Terran, have hardest time with them.

Best map for farming is Magma Core. I think it's the smallest 4v4 map, so you don't need to travel through map to kill ninja-expands from AI. Also this map is good for your AI defenders and Protoss proxy stargates.

I personally like mixing up the maps, makes it less tedious
