Blizzard just announced that there will be no new maps put into the map pool. Consequently, there are no maps being removed either; your vetoes notwithstanding this means more Tal’darim, Shakuras is still there, as is Antiga. The general community census seems to be that Blizzard’s attention is on HOTS and that WoL is necessarily suffering.
To follow that line of logic is to say that Blizzard’s SC2 team is so preoccupied with HOTS that fifteen minutes could not have been assigned to the unpaid intern, to remove two maps, and put two new ones in. I cannot imagine that the process for modifying the maps on ladder is more complicated than that. Do note that I am assuming this intern can get Mr. Browder’s Macchiato right, and can find his home state on a map of the US.
I am not so much upset at the lack of change as I am frustrated; I am not trying to pull the parental ,”I am not mad I am just disappointed,” with Blizzard. The map pool is stale, plain and simple that is the truth of things. I was recently inspired to watch some old replays of MaDFroG from Dreamhack 2010 played November 25th through the 27th. The first game in a best of three was on Shakuras Plateau. I know the map has undergone several modifications, but most notably Shakuras and Tal’Darim reached and breeched their respective age limits months ago.
I have a very simple fix, which I think would alleviate the need for Blizzard to adjust the map pool and put that responsibility squarely in the hands of the community. Using the cumulative competition map pool from tournaments like MLG, GSL and IPL, Blizzard can then offer players a choice. When you open the menu, you will have eight open slots to select your own map pool (the current number of maps in the pool), you will then be matched against players in a similar league who have also opted to include that map in their own ladder maps. I.e. if I don’t have Ohana slotted, I don’t play on it.
Blizzard could modify the maps to whatever standards they see fit, or they could offer a ranking of the most popular maps based on number of users, map size (2,3,4+ player maps), confirmed official version (avoid confusion about knock offs or minor changes)
Blizzard doesn’t have to adjust for skill cap, the community gets to play the maps it wants to, and the map pool is practically updated for Blizzard by tournaments that have a vested interest in keeping the game fresh and interesting. We can still have vetoes, Blizzard can even delete the neutral supply depots if they want, but this would be a very simple fix to their reluctance to modify the ladder maps.

When will you (you as in the people who keep asking them to fix it, not you personally) learn that they just don't give a shit? Vote with your wallet when HotS comes out, and let them know you won't take this disservice anymore.

There are people on ladder who like the map pool. Maps also affect balance, so there's no point changing it when they're trying to adjust HotS. The devs are all very active in the community, and are always open to criticism and learning from people outside Blizzard, as well as taking suggestions from them.
Is this the post you were referring to?
"We are looking at ways we can add fresh maps to the ladder on a regular basis and want to work closer with community map makers to get them involved in these kinds of changes. As an example, we’ve partnered with sites like Team Liquid to facilitate previous map making contests in the past. We’re currently exploring similar opportunities to involve the community moving forward."
Stuff is changing, just be patient and don't go ballistic if it doesn't happen in a week.
@iGrok: They do give a shit, since their careers depend on the continuing success of this game. Saying something like that is pretty ignorant.

I hear this a lot, and I don't understand it. What are you thinking would happen if everyone got really mad and nobody bought HotS? Blizzard certainly would NOT say "oh, looks like we went about this wrong, let's implement everything the community says in HotS 1.1 and then try super super hard to nail LotV", they would simply drop StarCraft as a franchise, and the game that brought us all here would die. If that's what you want, and you're already fed up with various aspects of SC2 enough that you're not buying the game or wasting your time talking about ways to make it better, why are you even still posting here?

I would rather they drop the franchise than run it into the ground.
An organized boycott would work better, but judging from previous boycotts, lets just say the gamer crowd has no integrity.

I'd say that the gamer crowd as a majority simply don't agree.
