Wouldn't I have problems with many games because they don't support this resolution? If there's seriously games out there that don't support 1920x1200 then they are probably not even worth playing, just saying :p You are posting on a site that was created because of a game running on 640x480 resolution, just saying.. Said game was made 12+ years ago... He's probably talking about new releases.

Anyone have this issue on a Korean 27" monitor (and hopefully resolved it?)
Actually scratch all of that. The backlight is working so I'm assuming it will kind of works. Two things to check: - Check your drivers/driver settings. - Check the actual LCD panel. I don't mean DVI, I mean the actual cable that connects the LCD to the relevant electronics. It could be loose.

Sup folks, I bought the Dell U2312 and it's simply amazing, thanks for the advice! Now my only "problem" is, I have no clue what resolution I need for beeing able to only have 1 wallpaper across both screens, and not 2x the same. They are both 23" with a 1920x1080 resolution. Edit: Apparently, I'm a dumbass. I need 3840x1080 right?

hey guys. i was looking at the benq 120hz 3d monitor but i realize that im spending $400 on a monitor that i cant really use all the way. i wont be using the 3d at all most likely. is the 120hz that good or should i go with something like dual u2312s? edit: amazon has them listed for just $200 each, $50 less than newegg. should i still wait for blackfriday/cybermoday or would you grab them for 200?

Hey guys, I'm not a very educated guy in terms of monitors and just wanted some of your opinions on what I should buy. I'm just wondering what type of monitor would best suit my needs. I'm thinking about getting a second monitor for dual monitors, as my friend said it's incredibly much more convenient and that I will never be able to go back to only having one after. I'm a college student who likes playing video games as one of his hobbies, do light video editing, a lot of typing for school papers, and basic web surfing. The one monitor I have now is a Samsung SyncMaster EX2220 model, 1920 x 1080 I think. My price range is $100~300, preferably the cheaper the better, but it's cool if it hits the budget mark. I'm also thinking about waiting for Black Friday/Cyber Monday, so monitors you think would go on sale would be awesome too. Would greatly appreciate any rec's, opinions, etc. Thanks.

120 hz is still nice because then you don't have to worry about tearing or anything like that.
That being said, if you arent the type of person that is bothered by tearing or dont even notice it, then all of that is completely lost on you.

Hey guys. I'm looking for a 120hz monitor, but most of the ones listed in the main post were 24" monitors. I'm wondering if there are any suggestions for the the 27"+ range?
Thanks in advance!

I don't particularly recommend 27" TN monitors. Bad pixel pitch, bad viewing angles exacerbated by big screen, etc.
If you must, the best options are the Asus (matte and can apparently run at 144hz) or Samsung 27" versions of the examples in the OP (glossy).

Hi guys,
I saw a monitor on a local shop with a crazy price, it's the Hanns.G HS233H3B.
It's normally around 300$, and with their price it's only like 160$ for maybe 2 weeks.
Is it a good one? I won't hesitate for a 120hz monitor of this price but I can't find a lot of things about this one on internet...
I actually have an Asus VE228T, cheap monitor but with my GTX670, I find it a bit of a waste to have a 60hz monitor :D
I don't have the money to spend on a 400$ monitor like the BenQ XL2420T, so if someone answer me, consider the fact that i'm not really rich and not saying "it's a shit monitor compared to the 600$ Asus Xderp30".
Thanks!

Hi guys.
So I'm thinking of picking up a new monitor, doesn't have to be big, a resolution like 1280x1024 is perfectly fine for me.
The catch is though, that the current monitor I think wasn't exactly designed for gaming, it's an emachine monitor that's something like 1366x768, and I think it's contributing to my deteriorating eyesight.
Can you guys explain to me what monitors are good for eyesight and why? What are some monitors of this type?

if TN 120hz are kinda bad, are the catleaps a lot better in 27in? I know its a gambling buying on ebay and importing from a different country lol...

I believe most calibration tools come with software that forces icc profiles to be loaded at all times. I am not 100% certain but I'm sure calibration software does this. Maybe try this out...if you don't want I buy calibration tools. No idea if games will still fuck you up but try it out f you haven't already .
I tried the 2nd option but still doesn't stick in games. Couldn't find any LUT loaders that worked either. Thanks for the tips though.
Well, I might just buy a calibrator at some point. Thankfully, with a bit of adjustment, this VG236H still looks good in games even without the ICC profile. I keep in standard mode with color temp settings of R88 G68-70 B100; probably not the best but gets rid of the massive green tint, and then some red reduction is necessary because the image becomes too pink.
With all that said in mind, I've been thinking more about how I'm having a hard time recommending the BenQ monitors to anyone - because their factory gamma is so bad - I would imagine that would lead to some pretty nasty black crush and generally poor contrast among many shades. I sure wouldn't want to play games on that, but maybe it just bothers me more than most.
