Destiny is a walking joke. How do you expect anyone to react to the stupid shit he says? If he wanted to be taken seriously he shouldn't act the way he does.
You think someone like destiny has any respect from anyone of true stature in this community than you are only fooling yourself. Incontrol treated destiny with all the respect he deserved.

The rant included pretend poop.. I "decided" to joke around 20 years ago.

The thing is, DJwheat looks at this from a different perspective. He is just happy that esports is growing, which is fine, but irrelevant in this debate. Destiny wants sc2 to grow, Idra has given up, and Incontrol talked about alot of stuff.
So when people talk about the numbers in this debate, it should be clear that those are sc2-specific (given the context), but it seems DJwheat completely missed that point.
I giggled at little at the part about claiming Destiny wants sc2 to grow. More on point though, I think you completely missed the point. They openly stated that numbers are down for SC2 currently and that with the expansion coming out you will see them go back up. The point he made about the nonstop growth of e-sports is that the viewership is still out there, it's just not currently on wings of liberty due to it being more difficult/not free to play/a little stale . To prove any of it, all you really have to do is wait and see. Also did you by chance catch the Live on Three where Scoots laid it out nicely about viewer numbers ratio to number of active players? I would assume overall numbers matters more than percentage of players, in terms of viewership to most sponsors, but it's interesting none the less. I feel like a lot of the people ragequit this episode of ITG the same time Destiny did, because they seem to be missing out on quite a bit of what happened.
1) Ok I understand DJWheat's point a bit better now, thx for that. But I still argue that it makes 0 sense. Destiny never denied that viewers were out there. He argued that they watched LOL rather than sc2, and I wonder this, how many people think HOTS will be anything but a bump?
2) No could you please link me to it, or explain what Scoot said?

I've just finished listening. I think many of us overreacted. It wasn't as bad as some of you guys made it out to be.
Still a good show. Thanks for it. Just remember to keep a cool head next time.

This is the best point. People think this argument is so intense or childish, as if a grown man yelling somehow makes it so. Get real (get bic lol). Try listening to a married couple arguing over money. ITG argument was so tame it's laughable.

Big props to Painuser, the only sane person on this episode. Very unprofessional acting by Wheat, iNcontroL, Idra and Destiny. Doesn't matter the topic, but not being able to discuss it like civilized people is a damn disgrace and makes me wonder how you guys actually became "voices of the community"...
I don't buy most of the "sky is falling" bullshit either, but that doesn't justify retarded discussion methods. That goes for everyone on the show (except Painuser that actually handeled it like a pro).

In my opinion the most offensive thing about the show was Wheat insulting our intelligence two or three times with off topic and barely coherent arguments that he seemed to think were profound in some way. Like, if we're arguing that LoL is taking over SC2 then how is it relevant that overall twitch numbers are going up when SC2 numbers are going down? Yea LoL is doing great, and dota2 is getting there so there's more viewers on twitch, we know that shit already. I don't happen to think the growth of other games is healthy to SC2, clearly Destiny didn't either and I think there's a LOT of sensible people that don't buy into the whole "symbiotic relationship" bs. Yea I'm sure that we get a few more viewers who want to check out SC2, but I'm sure we lose even more viewers, and sponsors. I have friends who used to buy GSL every season, I even used to watch it on one of my friends' accounts. I asked him the other day if he was still watching it, and he replied that he stopped following SC2 months ago and is totally into the LoL pro scene. This was from someone that doesn't ladder or anything, he was purely a consumer of SC2 esports (exactly the crowd we would hypothetically want to attract with inc, wheat and idra's argument), but now he totally abandoned SC2 because he actually chooses to play Lol.
I think Idra and Incontrol are great but I don't really agree with their perspective that we can (or need to) make SC2 esports big without Blizzard. If getting the community up in arms for a week and bombarding Blizzard with tweets has a 1% chance of increasing the likelihood that healthy changes are implemented to the game, that's better than just saying "we as a community need to grow this" and offering no real solutions. If there's a small chance that someone high up at Activision took that stunt seriously enough to give the sc2 team more funds or something, then it was a good thing. Whether or not it's true, right now it feels like Blizzard doesn't care at all. Even getting confirmation that they do give a shit is nice just to give us some peace of mind. But dude .. urgh. We just had one of the most viewed tournament ever 1 month ago and now LoL are stealing our viewers ? If you can show me just ONE proof that LoL having more viewer = sc2 having less I just won't say shit anymore but that is a ridiculous statement you probably read on reddit and think is true. Well I'm saying that just in the context of their argument. I never said anywhere that I actually think Sc2 is dying or will die. Just that we are losing viewers on players streams which is obvious, nobody is denying this, and that I don't believe the growth of Lol is healthy for Sc2. Proving that LoL's viewer count going up correlates with SC2's going down is beyond my capabilities, but it's a safe assumption I think. Also, I gave you the example of my friend, which is Lol +1 and Sc2 -1. putting Lol at +2 just from my one example, that should suffice as "ONE proof." Also I don't read Reddit, except just a few minutes ago to see what all the fuss was about this drama. Now I remember why I never go there.
Ok I get your point but I think the people who are just leaving sc2 to go to LoL aren't that much. I know I watch way more dota2 than sc2 at the moment but it is because sc2 tournaments are becoming incredibly stale. The games are all the same and the market is WAY oversaturated. I think this is causing more loss of viewers than people going over to LoL. I know a lot of people who don't play sc2 but watch the shit out of it. So when you don't play and the tournament are becoming less and less exciting, you don't really care about the game anymore and go watch something you enjoy more. But me watching more dota2 instead of sc2 doesn't mean I would've watched sc2 anyway

I can't believe how dumb reddit has gotten over the past year. It just blows my mind, I used to love reddit for checking results, talking about games, discussing cool videos the starcraft community has produced. But now its simply the sky is falling bullshit. How do they not realize for every "pro" player we have lost over the past year we have gained just as many. We just had 50 kespa players join the scene and now everyones freaking out over there because 5 people retired in the last month? Jesus fuck the sky isn't falling the game will live on strong and the community could too if they weren't so damn busy over there freaking out everytime they think someone crosses an imaginary line that only certain people can cross and if other people do similar things its absolutely hilarious. Imagine back in the day how much Reddit loved destiny and his "retard magnet, and rape with banelings" Reddit ate that shit up. Now if anyone says the word retard or does a rape joke its going to be how they need to apologize. What the fuck is wrong with reddit? If you use that site downvote these morons and upvote the common sense I just don't understand how stupid some people can be and end up with a damned +100 over there. I have barely even used TL for the forums but I think it's something I'm really going to have to start doing its not as batshit crazy as reddit has been lately.

I kind agree. I don't think LOL is that big of a sc2 killer. I think LOL is more of a WOW-killer actually. That aside, I don't think there really is any syngery effect between the growth of sc2 and the growth of LOL. LOL growing doesn't really help the future growth of sc2.

Yeah indeed and actual interesting discussions are getting like 40/50 comments and suddenly drama or fluff and BOOM 300 comments at 1500 upvotes. Reddit is just sad :/
