Why am I not surprised it's reddit? It always seem to be reddit that gets people fired (Orb), forces people to retire (Milkis), and NOW gets people suspended. Ok well i'll give some explanation here.
I think that EG is dumb as Fuck for having him punished. Its punishing fans, stephano, EG, sponsors, everyones. No one is winning in this..
Punishing someone when no one is fucking hurt ?
lets see 3 different scenario :
1_ if it wasn't a joke. (less probability) If a lot of country, sexual majority is far below 14, in some country it can be even 9.. (yeah..). In france, it's not unusual to have a 14Years old girl pretending to be 15 or older, with makeup & everything. No one have been hurt, not even the girl.
If he says this to his friend, it's that he's the first one shocked by the story. (maybe she gladly told him her age AFTER the fact that she slept with a famous pro gamer). It wasn't a rape anyway. just not legal age, and stephano is still young.. a young boy playing video games.
Anyway remember stephano was in FRANCE for the facts. so why does USA care ? that's not illegal and that's not their problem. Or they should care before everything of country were sexual majority is 9 or 12.. and girl have sex everyday
2_ if It was a private joke for his friend and didn't know it was streaming.
Well then, its just a private discussion, and private joke. You can joke of ANYTHING with your friends, its not a volunteer public declaration. Why should he be punished for that ? In france, its very common to do job like that. A good joke is often shocking, its a part of humor. The more it's shocking or suprising, the funnier it is, often.
So why is he punished, we're not here to judge what make his friend laugh (and yeah he's laughing, look the stream, so YEAH its a fucking joke) ?
3_ He did knew there was a streaming (high probability)
He did what ppl like him : provocation, border line, he made the show. He made a joke, and fake to pretend he didn't know for the stream in order to shock viewers. (maybe he believed that ppl in USA had some sense of humor, as long as no one has really been hurt)
Think about it. The 14years old girl... the stream... doesn't you remember of Destiny ? He just made a big Fake Remake of destiny for joking. Destiny pretended to sleep with a 14years old girl on a stream, common, its OBVIOUS.
Some ppl just didn't get it and took it seriously.
Anyway in Europe we know that in USA there is two rules :
1_ money before everything. Sponsor get the law for the apparences. 2_ You can Sue ppl for any kind of crap. Make a lot of noise, and cuz ppl problem for just a simple word, that hurted anything, well, a lot of Bullshit. You are a girl take An elevator with a man ? Let just pretend he raped you ! you can get some free money from it. You are a stupid feminist community and heard about a pro gamer making a private joke to one of his friend ? "lets just ruin his life, he has to go to hell !"
EG you are fucking stupid, and just know that in europe, we Hate you, EG, for your stupidity in this matter. Stephano is the only good thing really happening to you, and you crush him for nothing. You lost a ton of FAN in europe, and just know that (I speak for myself, but I think a lot will think the same), we will fucking boycott everyone of you sponsors, dumb as fuck, products for punishing innocent young ppl for just "telling a private joke who hurted no one".
Sorry for my english its not my native language. neither do stephano.

No. This has nothing to do with esports or foreign esports. Esports are a joke because people are so busy trying to make it mainstream, that noone is having any fun. So the community shrinks and shrinks til its down to the minority assholes who are telling the players to stop having personalities.
Esports is a joke because people are more interested in shouting about the future and "whats good for esports" than shutting the hell up and just enjoying the scene that they chose to follow.
How about instead of constantly bitching and trying to fix shit, you just enjoy it. Thats why you came here at one point, but now you have it cemented in your mind that its not enough for you to enjoy it, so you need your interests to be mainstream.

I'm disgusted by the drama-creators who turned this into an issue, and by the overreaction from Evil Geniuses.
It's fucking ridiculous that you have to censor yourself and be a corporate robot 24 hours a day if you want to be a fucking pro video game player.
If he said this in an interview at a live event? That's very different. But this was a stupid in-joke between friends, it didn't mean anything, it's just a bit of silly black humor.
I hate that we live in a world where the Political Correctness Police are so powerful that not even a private message on battle.net is a safe place to talk with your friends without having your job and your livelihood be put at risk. It's a damn shame.
AND HE DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING OFFENSIVE. He didn't insult anyone, he didn't disparage a race of people. No one was harmed at all. Just one simple moment of Howard Stern-like shock humor between friends, and he's suspended from his job for almost a month.
Fuck this whole situation.

Lol, "lack largely of any education," my ass. He's probably better educated than 90% of TL. Bad educated doesn´t refer just to have titles but to have good manners, that´s what i meant. Call bitch to the ceo of a big korean tournament through twitter shows very bad manners Manners, just like morality are subjective and personal. You can not force your personal standards on someone else. Stephen Fry, one of the best educated and most intelligent people on television uses foul language all the time about all kinds of people and is a great proponent of the right to say what you want in any manner (oh the irony) you choose. SC players are actually very well educated in general, Nony is a very polite guy for the most part. Unlike say NFL players, most of whom wouldn't have got in to college if not for a scholarship to play football. Please, please, please stop thinking that your standards are better than anyone elses. Ok, right you can call bitch whoever you want whenever you like, if you think those are manners then you don´t think rationally at all man. Yes you can. You can call anyone a bitch because bitch is just a word. It means female dog, how offensive! Manners are just social niceties, they mean nothing. Just like when you get up from the table while other people are still eating, I get told off by my gf for that all the time and I always reply the same "Then eat faster". Its not up to her what I as an ADULT choose to do. If I call you a bitch, you can be offended by all means. It was directed at you. Everyone else on the planet has no right to be offended by it however because it wasn't directed at them. When you speak in anger or passion and you are an adult you have a plethora of fantastic swear words available to you and you should feel free to use them, to tell me that I can't use those words because they offend your sense of manners is far more rude. How in the world is it ruder for someone else to get offended by your manners? It's like if you tried to piss on A's shoes but your splatter hits B as well. Hell, yes, B can be offended even if you didn't mean to piss on him. You are talking about a physical act not words. Words (in general) can not harm anyone. I have the right to do and say anything I wish unless what I do or say infringes on someone else's right to do the same. Pissing on someone's shoes would physically damage their shoes, saying i was going to piss on them would do nothing. Being offended about something said to someone else is far more rude than expressing yourself in anger. Calling you a bitch once is completely acceptable. Calling you it 20 times a day, every day is not, it is abuse. There is a huge difference. Seriously, you can PM me can call me every name under the sun, I will not get offended because they are just words and besides I can swear in 5 different languages, I'm pretty sure I have been called it all before ;p You are operating under the assumption that words cannot hurt people. But words have and do continue to hurt people every day. (See: every slur under the sun.) Not everyone is you, and not everyone has lived your life, and not everyone has had the luxury to develop a "thick skin." There are people out there (esp. victims of bullying) who get triggered by sights, smells, and yes, sounds, including -- would you know? -- words. That is an uncontrollable, involuntary reaction, and people have every right to confront you for that, whether it's because they themselves are triggered by it, or because they know someone else who gets triggered by it, or simply because they know it encourages bullying. Your intention essentially means nothing once the harm is done. Your argument boils down to the following: "I don't get offended if someone insults me. Therefore, nobody else should! Furthermore, my right to free speech & the inconvenience of having to choose a different word or having to say nothing at all >>> the pain and/or significant discomfort of others."
If you aren't going to read a post properly, then don't argue about the content.
read my post properly. There is a difference between calling someone a bitch once, which does no harm, to anyone, and repeatedly doing so. I fully recognise that words can be used to destroy a person, I am bi-polar and spent much of my childhood being bullied for "being weird" but some random person calling me names doesn't effect me for precisely that reason. You do not matter to me, your opinion doesn't matter. It only matters to me if you go out of your way to insult me, at that point your right to say and do as you please infringes on mine.
I don't get offended because its simply easier than being offended, try it. Watch a comedian you find offensive and instead of gettin all worked up, just turn it off.
No one should get offended by what a random person says, the vast majority of people actually don't get offended. They get offended when repeatedly subjected to insults. The reason why homophobia is such a visceral subject is because everyone has been subjected to it for so damn long. The first time someone calls you a faggot or gay, you don't even know what the words means and thus can not be offended. It is only after prolonged exposure to the word that it takes root and you instinctively, no thats the wrong word, become programmed to find it offensive. It is an offensive word, it can be used to do massive damage to people, but pretty much every gay guy I know wouldn't care less if you called them a fag, unless you did it more than once and were directing it at them.

You never know anyone, ever 100%. Virtually every serial killer had someone in their life who had no fucking clue they were knocking off prostitutes or raping children, in fact often their family and neighbours are completely shocked to learn that the person had a bad bone in them.
Playing devils advocate is usually just a pretense to say what you really think. everything you said before and after "I do think he was joking" is either bullshit or how you really feel... I don't know which, but say what you mean, don't argue for the other side.
