This phone looks pretty good, but a 499$ price tag for the 4GB, and a 599$ pricetag for the 8GB? That's ridiculously overpriced. I'd rather go out and buy a PS3 than get an 8 GB phone that runs OS X. It resembles a palm pilot more than a phone too. Edit: But the unlocking mechanism is soo cool! All you do is slide your finger across the screen to unlock. Hope the screen is very very very scratch resistant. It's probably about as scratch resistant as the fucking iPod screen, which is impossible to keep scratches off. (Seriously, I keep the thing on my ledge, on top of a console, or in an empty pocket, and it got scratched somehow... wtf?)

Anyways - I really see this thing having trouble catching on, the price is just insane. Then again, you can say the same thing about every other Apple product. *shrugs* iPod's and phones with comparable features aren't really much cheaper (both are around $400). That, combined with the status symbol that the iPod/Apple brand holds and with the general awesomeness of the product, should make it easy for them to catch on.

I'm so glad apple is the only one legally allowed to come up with 100% touchscreen phones now, or whatever the patent grants them. thats exactly what i thought. who the fuck cares if its patented? this clearly shows which way apple is going ...

The 2 mp thing is slightly a turn off - for how magnificent this phone looks they really should've added a better camera to seal the deal. As ETT said, the prices never go down. I believe I heard somewhere that Apple doesn't let any of its retailers dip below a certain price for their products =/. Your best bet is to find a refurbished one (offered by Apple) sometime down the line (I think 1gb Nanos are going for like 33 refurbished at the moment on apple.com).

it's annoying. believe me when i say you will not want a phone where EVERYTHING is touch-screen. it looks great, but sometimes you gotta press several times before it does what you want it to do, and its alot easier to missclick. it also gets dirty easily because your dirty fingers keep on touching it. and it also gets scratched more easily. also, it's way too expensive imo

Apple has its very own price protection policy, if any retailer attempt to sell the product less than the RRP (Recommended Retail Price), then it will be fined heavily. Anywayz, there are a number of ways to get around this: + Student Discount (about 10% off) + ADC Student membership (20% once in a life time, I bought my Macbook Pro C2D via this policy, got it down from 4300$ AU to about 3300$ AU) + ETT (25% off, once a year, for Apple staffs, so hook up with a friend work for Apple) + Refurbished product (not recommended, but if you're really in short of money then bahhh...) hope that help, and btw, I've just been converted to an Apple fan .

Is not about "enuff", is about getting top tier. If you are getting a phone with such price and gadgets, they might as well add a better camera. Its like getting a top computer and a 15" monitor with it. A 15" monitor es "enuff", but doesnt match the rest of the computer.

I charge my phone every night, and I doubt anyone of us would need to actually talk on the phone more than 5 hours a day. i think anything around or above 7 hours talk time is considered very good. 5 hours is average. And I think the razrs talk time is like 3 hours, though I'm not sure. Samsungs d900 also has a 3 hour talk time.

And I dont think you read my post, else you would probably have come up with a different comparison Also it sucks balls if its true that Apple products dont drop in price ><

My friend got tired of his imate because of exactly this reason. He got rid of it, and now uses a regular phone. However, apple says the iphone has some technology that will help it ignore unintended touches.
