Video and sound weren't down, and AMD commercials weren't playing. That should narrow it down a lot.

Hate this change. IPL's production quality has been spotty at best and GSL was never meant to be played with 3 rounds in such a short time. No, no, no.
That said, the 5 on 5 sounds pretty cool.

Come on guys, give them some credit. They will play well and there will be good games, and it will be fair for both players... They ARE the BEST players in the world after all.... Should be a fantastic weekend for SC though. IPL 4 was AMAZING. IPL 5 should be even better!!
One thing you're leaving out is relaxation time. You have to win 3 matches to become the champion. Instead of having about 4 weeks to prepare and relax, you're doing this ~1 a day. There's less time to prepare mentally.
However, I'm faithful enough in GOM to believe that they have thought this through and they don't think it should be too bad.

Worst idea ever. GSL is the tournament you expect people to bring out their best play because they have time to prepare their strategy, study their opponent and bring out the best possible performance.

Scarlett? What a joke, more like Huk or Mana (or Major, or a lot of players way better than scarlett)

I consider Game 7 of MMA/DRG to be the greatest SC2 game to date.

Meh, doesnt matter how they do this next GSL. Taeja is clearly going to win it.

Also lets be serious, 99% of people thought MKP would win season 2 and we all know how that turned out.

depends what they want this team to be. If they want an all=stars of foreigners, they want Huk because he did achieve a lot even if right now he's not at the top anymore. And if they just want the best, there are 1000 european players better than Scarlett

Seed is the real hottest player imo.:D

really dislike this RO8 till finals being played with no preparation... GSL is different because they prepare crazy stuff for every games and think of strategy with their teammates and so on, now it's going to be like every other tournament... makes me sad
|
Its not a huge deal since the Ro8 players will probably have played each other multiple times even on the maps in question since GSL has been somewhat unchanging in there map pool which in this instance only works to the players benefit. They know there opponents very well and they know the maps in question very well and probalby know most of the build orders they would use on them anyway.
That being said the only real awesome part of this announcement is the 5v5 special event.

Wow, this will for the tournament format be completely shit. I hope they let GOM handle the production at least...

I don't understand the whole community pitch forking the GSL just because players don't have time to prepare. TO BECOME A GSL CHAMPION you have to endure any situation any time, that proves what a true champion is. I LOVE the idea of having the GSL RO8 and GSL World Championships at IPL5. Quit being whining little beaches, and actually show some love to GSL for even coming to IPL for fuck sakes.

I would agree, but I kinda want to be able to see the GSL finals, and so far IPL has not deliverd.

Might make for good finals for once, since usually one person comes a lot more prepared than the other, I just hope the schedule isn't too condensed, and maybe make it a 3/4 day even instead of just a 2 day event.
Also from the looks of it, WCS Korea is making GOM look for a way to fit everything that is announced/planned for 2012 to complete, this saves them some 3weeks(almost one month).
