If you think about it, Gom's perspective: -we fly our whole crew out to do a shit ton of games instead of a bo7. More utilitarian. -how do they get the 2012 schedule in order? This. - although many bitches and moans will be had, the crowd for foreigners vs koreans and GSL finals(semifinals and ro8 probably too, to a less extent) will be CRAZY and it will be epic just because of the quality of their players(I see it as a they have one nighht to prep for a match(the players will be having the time of their life and being really tired), and based off of the skill level of players at IPL tac on the spot, gsl players dont dissapoint. Fan perspective: -championship worth something in between winning an arena of legends tournament and something like the world championship. Until someone gives a name for it, I'll think of it as the gauntlet gsl. -ridiculous starpower overwhelming everywhere onto everyone at ipl5. So many good players make soo many good games. -The games will still be good, not as good as prepared matches, but hype all over and live in somewhere not korea=all nerds change pants. So although it ruins the prestige format of the GSL, the incredibly skilled and hype matches the fans get live, the working out of gom's schedule, and the fact that this isn't their new format, it's a one time thing will cause IPL5 hosting GSL to be a huge success. P.S. Gom did give season ticket holders a discount for wcs, so the argument that fans didnt get what they paid for is kinda moot. This announcement caused waxangel to go on a posting rampage, it really is kinda funny. Obviously gom will be doing the production. Besides, IPL has pretty good production in my memory with the exception of the most recent event(read: lay off them a little, they won't do the next tournament worse) Edit: P.S.S. Many of my trusted posters are actually massively against this. It's possible I'm just defending for the sake of defending, or that i can tolerate what appears to be a win-win situation with minor setbacks.

And how many good GSL finals has there been, not that many either. From a business and publicity stand point, I guess GOM can't afford to have bad finals happen so often; when people take their time to come see the finals and it's over super quickly in a very one-sidded way, it's not good to promote the game.

Not like the IPL production crew isn't amazing though. I'm hoping that I'll finally be able to attend this time.

From Ro8 on, I'm guessing most players spend days upon days watching VODs, creating builds, practicing the builds, refining the builds, preparing for builds that they think their opponent will use, etc.

I'm sorry but this sounds like a terrible idea. Not only does it ruin the best thing about GSL, the preparation time for matches, but its going to ruin IPL 5 because there will be so little time. IPL and GOM really need to rethink this.

I.e. This isn't just about the lack of prep time. there is a ton of other circumstances that will ultimately make it a battle of "who's luckiest to not get sick and get a good rest". Being the best at preparing specific builds (preparation) is arguably just as arbitrary as being the best at playing under stress on the fly (stamina and quick thinking).

I think the Korean team will be Nestea, DongRaeGu, MC, MVP and Seed If they are going off of achievements probably. If they are going off who gives them the best chance to win then TaeJa is on the team for sure.
