Hi all! I started my blog literally a month ago. Didn't plan to do my second on this exact day but that's cool! It's about my love of starcraft and my beginning of laddering. Check it out. And if you need me to link it, just ask. I stated that my goal was to get into platinum by the end of July. I wouldn't get to start laddering till actually 3 days ago. I had personal issues of a packed schedule and then I had mouse problems in which I had to buy a new mouse. But I was finally able to start laddering. I have been having much fun laddering and am doing great in my opinion.
These past three days I have gone from rank 31 to 2 in my division.
I am only behind the leader by 29 points and plan to overtake him tomorrow
The past three days I have had a record of 25 -14
For not playing in around a month that is pretty good for me. I have great fun when laddering and am starting to beat platinum players. I believe that my goal of making platinum by August is achievable. Hopefully I will be able to get promoted in the next week as I plan to be playing 12+ games a day. All of the encouragement has been very helpful. I thank all of you Thanks for taking the time of your day to read this and have a great day

I am currently having trouble in Gold league :/ have been stuck in it for a couple seasons. I just have good & bad days, sometimes I will beat top 8 golds then others I will loose to Silver leaguers but Congrats! I am glad someone is doing good in Gold league.
Keep it up! :D

Good luck, hope you make it! I was in a similar spot about a year ago but stopped playing due to having to wind up my Ph.D. already and some new releases of games I'd been waiting for (Mass Effect 3, ended up replaying ME2 for full story, then there was Crusader Kings 2, as well as Shogun 2 along with its expansion campaigns). Ended up never making the platinum promotion but also losing the game's record of my gold MMR, so I'm gonna have to start from a clean slate of 5 placement matches. Congrats on a good record. Don't get discouraged if you can't keep it up but I obviously wish that you can!
12+ per day is a good one, especially if you watch every replay and analyse the games to take something out of them. On te other hand, if you're a student and have entire 2-3 months of holidays, you might as well put yourself through a rigorous schedule of at least 8 hours of practice daily (ladder or not). While simply playing and playing a lot enhances your experience, the benefit is generally lost unless you engage in burst sessions too. Generally, those 8 hour days after days help you break barriers with your mechanics. Not just in SC2, basically in any game. Kinda like switching from hobbyist/half-time to full-time employed in a real-life job, I guess. Or like a lawyer who tries a couple of cases a year vs one that doesn't leave the courthouse throughout the entire business hours. A guy I had once taught to play WC3 did just that and he outpaced me to the point he became able to win any number of games to nil against me and eventually got himself into a sponsored clan (he made mid-masters just after the league was introduced, then quit playing). This because of the massive bursts like 8 hours or more, as he still didn't have my number of games played and he'd been rather average for a year or so until he found it in himself to commit. So you may want to play more than 12. But games, not hours!
GL HF! Drop me a line when you get to plat, please.

As long as you don't manage to lose to like three silvers in a row, lose your MMR to cheese etc., you should be fine. (Because it's possibly to drop your MMR back to the land of cheese you have long forgotten how to deal with if you keep playing while tired and angry/frustrated from losing.) It takes a while to advance from gold to plat through sheer win %%, you may need to hit like 1000 points or so. That takes a lot of playing. GL HF to you too!

Whenever I read this blogs I think to myself "why does this person even care about doing well at a video game?" but usually I don't comment on it. Just commenting on it today because it's Sunday night and weekend was uneventful.
Gold is good. You've now hit above average since you're above average gold. Remember to try to learn things from your replays.

I was also a gold play not too long ago, but with the help and advice of many experienced players here on TL.net, I was able to make it to Platinum. Making it from Rank 31 to 2 is an impressive feat and I congratulate you!
One good piece of advice I got from a friend is to look at replays and examine whether or not you have 'holes' or gaps in worker production. Try focusing on constantly building workers, and make sure you are almost never supply blocked. One or two times is acceptable in gold, but try to not let it happen. Also pay attention to execution of your builds for every matchup; you want each of your actions to be smooth and on time!
I wish you good luck, and update us on whether or not you get promoted! GL HF!
