Hahaha see what happens when you drop Zealots onto stacked Spider Mines. ^_^
Not pretty at all.

Sweet, is there a way to do this without vision of the mines? I love DT rushes, so getting rid of mines with 1 dt would be so fun
|
hehe, dt is funny ^^ i think you can do it with spead zealot +2 ups imo it can be good in very late game, when both sides almost killed each other
|
It's possible without vision, however, you can't set it up without knowing where the mine is.
Fun trick, useless in a real game.

If you dt rush, and you make it to their natural, and they try to fight off your harrass with mines, you'll know exactly where every mine is.
If you can do it without vision, I don't see how this WOULDN'T be useful

Terrans usually spread mines in luna for example. They put their first 3 mines in a row. Using this after getting hit once can get you a very good advantage.

have you seen when toss players use 2 goons to kill mines without observers by constantly hitting attack, stop, attack, stop. This causes the goons to move only a little bit untill the mine pops up, then the goon will have enough time to shoot it be4 it goes off

The zealots one is so nice

pretty cool vid
thanks mdt

Would be cool if someone invented some kind of ob / dtrush (gas costs T_T) and did this early game to a FD opening.

No you don't even need to use hold. The other guys have already explained how it works.

if you're getting obs you might as well get a shuttle and dt drop first in most cases i think. i can definitely see this being useful after a DT drop though, following up with obs to slash mines to delay terran's recovery

How would you do it without vision?

Actually if you know the enemy laid mines outside but you don't know exactly where you can still see a tiny little discoloration when a unit is burrowed. lings, lurkers, anything. Just have to look really hard.

Regardless you would need vision, otherwise your dt won't go after it. The whole trick is that the dt automatically attacks the mine before it triggers it.

I have done the dt thing before on a 1v1. The spider mine seems to delay switchign directions at some points and DT strikes first. I dont know how to do it consistenly though, and its probably a waste of time
|
You don't need vision. You need the proper angle and have to give attack command and the right timing.
I suppose you could practice for a million years and make it into another standard micro gimmick, but terrans would simply put 2 mines on top of each other etc.

I've tried looking really really really hard but I couldn't see it like with a lurker. Can someone screen shot a piece of ground before and after putting like a lurker there then use the differennce command to see if theres any difference between the 2 pics??
