Complaints about moderation and freedom of speech are for the website feedback forums. They will be treated as being off topic and dealt with appropriately.
No more Iron Lady talk, no more gender debate. This is a thread about a StarCraft player. Last I checked what's in between your legs has no impact on how you play the game.
I agree with some of the comments here that the moderation on this thread has been dreadful. It's way too soft. I have gone ahead and simply deleted a bunch of comments that fail TL's community standards. Yes, those standards are determined by the mods. Yes, those standards are not perfect nor even uniformly applied. But we try our best. Spare us your righteous indignation over any notional impairment of free speech. This is a private site. It's a club. There is no "right" to free speech here. We only tolerate quality speech. By who's standards? Ours. Go read the TL Ten Commandments. And if you don't like this policy or our way of running our house, leave. - mensrea |

LMAO best followup.
Anyways, people here would benefit from a gender studies class. Men, women, and everything in between is all a matter of a few hormones. We're all the same people, and some are born into the wrong body. Yes, it's great to see girls kicking ass because culturally they're just not playing competitively.scarlett and msspyte are showing great promise.

The structural differences of the male/female brain origin in genetic difference, which is existent of course.

Makes you wonder whether a girl wanting to be a guy would get the same reception on here.
How is she supposed to get motivation, when she looks at her own hype thread and sees all this garbage from people?

Can we get off the topic? Scarlett is Scarlett, and that's all anyone needs to know and care about. Certainly, but it's also disingenuous to pretend that's not one of the reasons she is getting (positive) attention and has a fanbase Unlike pretty much every female gamer, Scarlett came to attention by beating koreans.
That alone means she can't be dismissed in the same way as so many of the other female signings.

Congrats Scarlett! Hope to see you stream soon :D

so many negativity towards this. Really weird :S She didn't do anything wrong or anything, all she did was be honest to the crowd and played well.

Who are their sponsors? I can't find any information.

We exaggerate those differences to abuse the perceived advantages of being men. You're just a few hormone injections away from growing boobs and losing your upper-body strength. Your male parts are just a rearrangement of the female parts triggered by androgen exposure in the womb. In some cases, a genetic male will be insensitive to androgen and develop a completely anatomical female body, that is anXY woman \. A genetic male in a woman's body. That is just one example of all the little nuances that go on in sexual development. We all play a genetic lotttery and don't choose what we're born with. Racism, sexism, and heteronormative bias are all just cases where we pretend to be virtuous in being a "real man" or a woman or certain race, all things that we didn't choose and it's a disgrace to call it "normal" in order to exclude others from happiness.
Did you know that in Brazil the government is now required to cover sex change operations under health care? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20323334/ns/health-health_care/t/brazil-provide-free-sex-change-operations/#.T41zVtWQOP1
Brain differences are still unproven as only recently has society been offering women the same opportunity as men. If you look at US statistics, girls are doing better in a lot of academic fields that they werent doing before. Give it another 50 years before you claim that men are objectively better at things like math or spatial reasoning or logic.

I am not talking about sex change or hormons. The source of your congnitive abilities lies in the brain. The way neural connections are developed in the first years of the human life is decoded in DNA. You can't really change that fundamentally by injecting hormons when your brain is already developed to a large extent.

I thought real teams were looking into Scarlett.

So.. is she allowed to participate in female tournaments?
|
Grats to Scarlett and her new team for the pick up, hope to see her kick some ass here in the near future! ^_^
|
She’s played for a year and is epic. I’ve played for almost 2 years, and it took me almost all of that to break out of gold and into platinum Good for her though, I think that’s awesome!

Yes. Look at her Liquipedia page (Scarlett), she won two consecutive Iron Lady cups.
|
Good to see a female player getting attention outside of female-only tournaments with an impressive showing at IPL . Congrats to her and her team!
|
hope she'll be that one player that shines on team Eclypsia, and I think she will due to her innate talent for SCII.
|
Those wins at IPL are a sick record for anyone, never mind the fact that she's a new comer and female. That's just great all around. Best of luck to Scarlett and Eclypsia! Hope to see her at tournaments in the future!

[Deleted for inappropriate content.] ... Stop the gender debate.
And you are actually wrong. Or at least this is what the current field of research in gender differences is hinting at. To be a bit more specific, more and more psychological and cognitive differences between men and women (eye-hand coordination, ability in scientific VS literary domains, level of empathy and ability to relate to one's condition) can be explained by the differences in perceived power between individuals. Since women have overall a lower perceived power than men, this differences appear in men VS women experiments, but sex does not seem to be the main driver of the effect.
If you are interested in this, I can PM you some papers. But for now, back on topic.
