Complaints about moderation and freedom of speech are for the website feedback forums. They will be treated as being off topic and dealt with appropriately.
No more Iron Lady talk, no more gender debate. This is a thread about a StarCraft player. Last I checked what's in between your legs has no impact on how you play the game.
I agree with some of the comments here that the moderation on this thread has been dreadful. It's way too soft. I have gone ahead and simply deleted a bunch of comments that fail TL's community standards. Yes, those standards are determined by the mods. Yes, those standards are not perfect nor even uniformly applied. But we try our best. Spare us your righteous indignation over any notional impairment of free speech. This is a private site. It's a club. There is no "right" to free speech here. We only tolerate quality speech. By who's standards? Ours. Go read the TL Ten Commandments. And if you don't like this policy or our way of running our house, leave. - mensrea |

no problem with that though, gl No, she's not. And your comment is disrespectful and irrelevant. Glad for Scarlett, you are a promising player .
Have you ever met a girl?

Wow, she beat a code A Zerg, Ddoro and Demuslim and took a game off Oz in IPL4? That not a bad run at all, especially for a previously unknown player.

welcome to 2012, you and your "bro" (aka GF) should accept it

See, here is the thing. She was born a male (you don't know what her current sex is). But her gender is a girl. That means that referring to her as a 'guy' is ENORMOUSLY offensive. You might not think it like that, but it is. So if you have a grain of respect in your body, you would call her a she, per her request.

That is all there is to it, really.
Let me quote this again, before it get's lost by the trolls.

This is fantastic! So happy for her, live the dream!

I've seen some trash threads on TL.net, but this is an all-time low. I can't believe 20 of the pages are filled with irrelevant bashing just because of Scarlett's personal life.
Can we get off the topic? Scarlett is Scarlett, and that's all anyone needs to know and care about.

Yeah but is it really surprising? Its a complicated and unprecedented issue in the SC2 community. And I think most people dont mean to specifically single out Scarlett. They are talking about transgenered issues in general. So I dont judge the so called "trolls" to harshly.
I have opinions too, but save them for another website/thread.
Point is this is all pretty inspirational and I hope to see Scarlett do well in more tourneys with the help of the new team.

She's good at starcraft 2 and it's all that matters. Good luck Scarlett.

Congrats Scarlett, well earned. Riiight yea definatly the ooonly one bro lol. Being from the same country has nothing to do with this opinion or anything lol. Try to be alittle more objective in the future please cause your statement is just pretty false.

Congrats, wish you got on a better funded team though with more opportunities!

Good luck Scarlett! Best wishes from Halden, Norway

Sure. She is pretty unique. Hundreds of people are really good at SC2, so obviously those that stand out in one way or another will get more attention. I personally don't see a problem with it.

I didnt respect her at first cos i think she was overhyped as her only achievement is 44th place in a tournament, but now as a teamy of the great desrow I think I must give her some respect.

Hope everything goes well with the new team, and your practice pays off.
I often wonder about how hard It must be to be a pro, with so much pressure on your every move and every result. Good luck. Your play at IPL4 seemed inspired. I can't wait to see it get better!

And to be honest, it doesn't really matter 99% of the time
But then when you enter the Iron Lady tournament, the 1% pops up and asks the question. And in my opinion, fails the question from an anatomy standpoint.
In my world of mixed martial arts, a transgender would not get away with entering (and automatically winning) a WMMA contest. They would perform a simple epitestosterone level check, and the transgender would fail that test. I would imagine Scarlett failing a epitestosterone test as well.
I'm only bringing this up to point out that the second place finisher of the Iron Lady tournament is probably the true winner. Yes, a male hormonal footprint really powers up your APM. I mean, men's fingers get so much more muscular. Not to mention the notorious genetic advantage for mechanics, micro, macro, and strategical thinking. /sarcasm you're delusional if you think that while playing a game designed FOR a primarily male audience having male sexual characteristics and by correlation the perks and downs that come with it (aggression, focused vision, better tracking of moving objects, etc) has no benefits. NOT SARCASM Sigh. Males having "focused vision" and "better tracking of moving objects" are largely urban legends, popularized by a few pop-psi books without much scientific credence. As for aggression, I will just sit here and wait for you to be trodden on by any of the numerous goal-oriented women out there in the real world.
