Alex is verbose, and you owe it to yourself (and the rest of us) to read the statement in its entirety. Remember, when making comments/claims to provide proper evidence, facts etc. Arguments based on incorrect assumptions, facts and straw men, will be dealt with swiftly. If in doubt, PM a mod or ask IRC. Do NOT spread misinformation, when in doubt, check your sources. In short, be smart. The "delay" seems to me like it only occured because people have only just started to contact their sponsors and the head was being turned up. Right, obviously it's because of sponsor pressure, not because it takes time to discuss and write up an official statement.

He was NOT given any chance to reform himself either. Seriously? A past reference not used while affiliated with EG, and no chance to even try to reform? What the fuck. Why keep Idra around? He's used (in the past, like in Orb's situation) language that offends Alex. Hell, he's done it while being affiated with EG. And yet he was given the chance to reform? Why is that? Why wasn't Orb given that chance? Why don't you just let Idra go, instead of being so two-faced. Ugh. I might start liking TL again because of this. Disgustingly hypocritical. I hate to jump on your bandwagon but I think anyone who disagrees with the way EG handled this and their hypocrisy should do exactly what the vicious minority did that got this started. Lets contact the sponsors and let them know how we feel about EG poor decision making.....

Seems a bit overboard to dismiss someone over a random ladder game, against someone cheesing them. Words only have as much power as people give them. I seriously doubt Orb was using " nigger " as a derogative term about the player in question, Just like when people call others a " fag " they don't mean it in a " you are sexually attracted to another male ". The player the rage was diverted to was not black either, as he is Icelandic and we have maybe... 10 black people in the country ( Maybe a couple more ). Dismissing Orb for ladder rage is strange considering they have IdrA on their roster, who has said way way way worse ( even in public matches ). Double standards aren't so cool to me.

Idra gets the largest fanbase in all of starcraft 2 Idra gets paid lots of money by EG. Orb calls people niggers while on his own personal time Orb has few fans Orb gets fired by EG.

Is discrimination against blacks somehow worse than against homosexuals? Or is Idra just more valuable to EG than Orb? Huk also calls people "nigga" on twitter, but i believe Orb was mainly fired was because he lied to EG's management, if not then the logic is idiotic

Releasing orb but keeping Idra and Incontrol on the team is a fucking joke though, especially given the message of this post.

I am not a fan of moves like that, it's a real scumbag thing in my opinion. I am not defending Orb but I somehow feel that if sponsors/money was not involved in this decision we'd see more leniency for what he did while on his own time. It's not a "scumbang thing" at all. In fact, it's perfectly reasonable. On March 09 2012 12:57 VirgilSC2 wrote: I can see the necessity in EG's move here, however I feel really sour about the fact that reddit managed to destroy yet another caster's career. Don't be stupid. Orb did this all by himself by straight up lying to managements face. While I'm not a big fan of reddit witch hunts myself, some of them are certainly justified and for the better in the long run. "Jake has said this was not him last night, that he went to bed, that he has a couple of friends who he shared his account with - which obviously he's not supposed to do - and that he woke up to this shit storm. Now, you all can choose to believe Jake or not. We at EG are all going to believe him, but have told him that if we find out that this is not the case, your story does not flush, and this is your behaviour and you continue to act this way, then you will be very, very quickly removed from our world." Should be enough to understand why he was fired.

Other than that, I love so much that I get to the end of a thought-provoking, well-argued, intense piece of writing, and then this gem pops up: i like otters because they're neat and they hold hands while swimming backward.

At pretty much any other job you can't get fired for BMing someone in a video game on your own free time. The fact that you say that make me think you do not have a real job, or are just completely clueless. If my boss got ahold of an E-mail or overheard me saying half the stuff that gets said when children (and thats what "ragers" are, children who can not handle a game) I would lose the hell out of my job AND be brought before HR whereby if the next company i apply to looks into my HR file from my last job there would be a nice suprise waiting for them. In short, yes if your boss heard you speaking that way you would be out the door.

Because not only does the internet operate in funny ways, so do people in the real world. It's always best to be your best at all times. Those of us who sometimes allow ourselves to act worse do it at our own risk. The difference in attitude here is what often sets apart people who hit a plateau in life and people who miraculously, seemingly luckily, succeed. Truth. A large portion of the community seems to want SC2 to take off and become this massive mainstream success as an eSport, but with that comes real world culture, not just internet culture, and certainly not just gamer culture. Mainstream sports figures get caught up in controversies all the time for activities/behavior completely unrelated to their profession...often result in loss of jobs or at least loss of reputation/respect from the communities that they are a part of.
