Alex is verbose, and you owe it to yourself (and the rest of us) to read the statement in its entirety. Remember, when making comments/claims to provide proper evidence, facts etc. Arguments based on incorrect assumptions, facts and straw men, will be dealt with swiftly. If in doubt, PM a mod or ask IRC. Do NOT spread misinformation, when in doubt, check your sources. In short, be smart. Sounds ridiculous right? There's a huge difference here- you're comparing a child stealing a toy to someone who represents the StarCraft community (as well as one of the most respected teams/eSports organizations) having fits and using racial slurs. You can make up for a stolen toy. What can you do for something like this past a sorry (or in this case, a sad attempt at covering up)?

Sure one can make the argument he wasn't doing it necessarily in public and not quite in private as well since it was ladder games so people can put it out there as already exposed thanks to Reddit - you can't help feel bad for him, though it was his own fault for going that far. I guess the lesson is that if you're in the public eye as a caster, as a well known player, NEVER EVER give anyone proof of a situation that can put your reputation at risk. Such a shame too since I do like Orb as a caster, I think he can still improve upon things like not pulling a moletrap and yelling his lungs out during engagements or a crucial moment in a battle, and yelling/talking really fast too. But he's quite analytical as well. Another question needs to be asked, why doesn't get Idra get punished for this? Even though Idra is the poster child for rage, I think he's built too big of a following in doing so to the point he can get away with his usual ragequits and other shenanigans. But at least Idra isn't racist when he does it. He could flip someone off, or call them a bunch of other shit when he's ladder streaming.

I've met orb and he's a really nice and awesome person. On one hand, I personally dont swear a lot or make racial/sexual orientation slurs like some of the other casters do. I try to represent any company I'm working for as best I can. For my personal image I feel best being more 'family friendly'. On the other hand, is it really a big surprise to EG that orb has done this stuff in the past? An honest question, did they know about this behavior or are they responding now because people are having an uproar about it. I guess theres no way to know for sure as it is pretty simple to say 'we didnt know until now'. I personally think SC2 would be extremely boring without the intense opinions of Totalbiscuit, without the hilarious live streams of Destiny, without the stand-up comedy style Day9 performances, without Incontrol being drunk off his ass at the Blizzcon TL after party before SC2 was even out etc etc. While I think its completely up to EG to hire and fire whoever they want (welcome to running a business), I sure dont think someone should be flamed incessantly for this kind of behavior. Its just their personality and is who they are. Then again, I'm the type of person that if there is someone in my life that really bugs me, rubs me the wrong way or drives me crazy I just separate myself from them and do not involve myself with them in any way. I have always felt like that is the less self-righteous and mature thing to do.

Right now. They just had a panel and MIT, E-Sports is featuring in Forbes etc, The world is watching. This moment here is where E-Sports can either grow up and become a serious thing, is devolve into the stereo type of kids living in their parents basements. + Show Spoiler +

Sheesh. i think its a combo of Orb raging so much on ladder, lying about it in public then not apologizing if he had apologized and said something like "oh wont happen again" then it would be different and his outburst compared to IdrA is pretty different no player has ever started a thread or said anywhere that they were extremely and personally insulted by IdrAs comments and asked for an apology and there has been very little actual rage at IdrAs actions because generally it is pretty tame (not compared to other players perhaps) hes never really crossed any lines personally when i heard of all this i figured it was blown way out of porportion id never checked out his stream and thought this was some ancient history stuff people were dredging up but now that ive learned its recent and all hes done about it is try to pass the buck i cant get past that

*For those of you who complained to our sponsors: if you're satisfied with what I've written here, please re-contact them to let them know you're happy with us - really, please do it. For those of you who didn't initially complain, but are satisfied with this post nonetheless, I'd also ask that you contact our sponsors to let them know you support us. Well played Alex. ANd to those of you who actually did contact sponsors about this, you literally are killing e-sports. Who's next haters?

Don't you do research on people before hiring them anyway? It's well known in the community that Orb is a bad mannered/foul mouthed player. If you seriously think Orb meant anything against Black people, well, I think you're crazy. This really is a shame, Orb is a great, well-spoken, knowledgeable caster with a lot to bring to the table, I feel bad for him. Also, if you think that other players/employees of EG have never used words like this (the word faggot comes to mind, just as bad as the N word and used far more often), well, then you're just fooling yourself. I think it is the number of people who contacted their sponsors about the issue that prompted them to dismiss Orb. It is the sad fact of life that EG may have been willing to put up with his past non-sense, but their sponsors were not willing. Also, with this right after the crap with the Fighting Game Community, E-sports was getting painted in a bad light.

Because not only does the internet operate in funny ways, so do people in the real world. It's always best to be your best at all times. Those of us who sometimes allow ourselves to act worse do it at our own risk. The difference in attitude here is what often sets apart people who hit a plateau in life and people who miraculously, seemingly luckily, succeed. I shamelessly steal your statement, because I couldn´t have expressed it better myself. You nailed it sir. /Salute. As soon as you become a public person (stream is very public) you run the risk of building a bad reputation, which can come back and bite you in places you might not like. Sad, because I think he is a skilled caster, but you can´t tolerate such behaviour.

Sounds ridiculous right? Wow, I totally agree. I was right with EG till I learned that these comments were done earlier, not under the auspices of EG or any current role Orb has. Then you have the temerity to ask the community to 'forgive' him, claim you wish him well in future casting, yet you yourself say he has effectively committed an unforgivable crime? There is an inconsistency here that I find disturbing. If a caster had been found to have committed a more serious crime in the past - for example a sexual crime such as rape or pedophilia, I have no doubt there would be a similar reaction, but without the "forgive him, hope he does well in the future career". He would become and remain a pariah, reflecting the social mores with which the employer had acted. But Orb committed no crime, and did not do something which throws his character into permanent question, such as a player cheating, but just a one-off distasteful action in the past - since you yourself state it did not reflect any actual racism or political agenda of any sort on his side. Yet you are saying that due to this, and an ill-defined vagueary of a definition of 'modern racism' which I contend you did a simply dreadful job of explaining in your confusing, long-winded post, he is damned, tainted, forever as far as you are concerned. You, sir CEO EG, are the hypocritical extremist, not the so-called 'racist'. I further contend that your academic studies have blinded you to reality, inventing in your mind a politically-correct, Orwellian redefinition of "racism". Racism is about a clear a concept as anyone can have. It doesn't require redefinition. Real racism exists. In the modern times. In the 'west' of Europe, Great Britain, the USA and Oceania. It is a live thing. I have seen it behind closed doors in high political office and in ugly street activity. It exists in academic circles masquerading under 'modern eugenics' and 'post-modern bioethics'. Fight that, instead of inflicting politically correct nonsense upon a man who has clearly done nothing to deserve the public pillory, financial decimation and character assassination you have prosecuted. For fucking shame, EG. I am deeply appalled at this post, more so by the logic behind it.

On March 3rd of 2012, orb moved into the EG Lair. Now that hes been let go... will he be booted out? I feel rather sorry for the guy despite his racists comments, seems he made a big move for this opportunity and now its over.

In short, yes if your boss heard you speaking that way you would be out the door. This is not an e-mail, this is not talking. This is his own personal recreation. Would you get fired for raging while playing golf on your own time?
